Yep. It most probably has fight sequence that runs for fourty minutes without a cut with Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung. Unfortunately, it didn't make it into the final cut of the film. I told Brian White about it and he told me he'd be looking out for it. I suppose it will be in the "Never Seen Before Footage"-feature.

Does the logo on top of the disc remind you a bit of the Shaw Brothers logo?

IMDB. It's on RZA's resume, plus I believe I've also heard it on some other sites.grim_tales wrote:Yi where did you hear TYG will have a new soundtrack by RZA?
Also, it will be a shorter version. Perhaps the same that got released in Germany I dont know.

Hopefully they wont fuck it up either.grim_tales wrote:Thats' news to me.
I'll go for the PA DVD then if all goes well.
No it isnt, but we'll blame them anywayLD can you enlarge the picture a bit?
If the long fight didnt make it into the final cut of SPL thats hardly Bey's/Harvey's fault is it?

Shaolin Soccer was uncut on R1 so I'm guessing this will be too.
I am expecting a new sountrack (like Ong-bak) but this time the DVD will have both (Rescore DTS only though).
From a money point of view I'd love to see some article which shows these remixes make more money. Surely they must do, right/yes/no?Yi-Long wrote:Tom Yum Gong will also (AGAIN) have a new soundtrack (by RZA), so it seems that they just keep making the same mistakes...
Does it have anything the BBFC wouldn't like? If not I reckon it will be those two.Yi-Long wrote:Here's hoping that the UK release of TYG will at least be uncut and with the original soundtrack.

I'm not at all surprised.grim_tales wrote:Thats' news to me.
Oh Grim you do make me laugh. Where do you think LD sourced the picture?LD can you enlarge the picture a bit?

Was it really? I dont even know anymore. It took so very long before they finally released it. I just stuck with my old HK release, which is still good quality.bradavon wrote:Shaolin Soccer was uncut on R1 so I'm guessing this will be too.
I dont know how they could measure it, when they only release THEIR version of the movie. Bey said in an interview that Miramax got Iron Monkey in the charts. I feel that if it was released uncut and subbed, it also would have been in the charts. Perhaps even higher. From a money point of view I'd love to see some article which shows these remixes make more money. I just know that when a movie has an altered soundtrack, I'm not buying it. And I'm guessing I'm not the only one. Perhaps if they put a soundtrack on it by 50ct, and make it very clear on the front of the DVD-cover. That might make people buy it who otherwise wouldnt buy it. I dont know. I still wouldnt.
I'm not sure if there's anything in it that the BBFC wouldnt like. Cant remember if there were many headbuts or whatever, or elephant-falls.Does it have anything the BBFC wouldn't like? If not I reckon it will be those two.Yi-Long wrote:Here's hoping that the UK release of TYG will at least be uncut and with the original soundtrack.

It's been a while since I last seen it. Lets hope they'll pass it uncut.
I dont care if they include a new soundtrack, as long as we can also opt for the original one.
Ah well, we'll see. R1 is already a no-buy it seems. Great start for Dragon Dynasty

No you didnt say that, but Yi seemed to act as if it was yet another thing he could pin on Bey/Harvey (its not the full cut or something so he won't buy it)thelostdragon wrote:Sorry, but I don't have the original.grim_tales wrote:LD can you enlarge the picture a bit?
Have I said that? I just said that it will be part of the special features that come with this release. If the long fight didnt make it into the final cut of SPL thats hardly Bey's/Harvey's fault is it?

Which I was clearly joking with. As I stated before: i just want the movie uncut and subbed. I dont suddenly need extra scenes stuffed in there, if it was never the director's intention to do so. I didnt even know about longer fights for SPL, and TBH I dont care if they're in the movie or just as extras.grim_tales wrote:thelostdragon wrote:grim_tales wrote:LD can you enlarge the picture a bit?

Nope. What makes you think that?
It's the Original HK Extended Cut. Only the Korean UE and HK DVD got the Original HK Theatrical Cut.

They're dubtitles but I read Optimum Asia (for the UK) created new ones.Knetan wrote:reportedly, the subtitles on that Shaolin Soccer R1 were quite bad. Not that the HK subs were clean in the grammar department but that's a thing I'm quite fond of mostly anyway.

Optimum Asia is a great DVD. Good accurate subtitles, improved image, extras carried over. Not bad for a lesser known brand compared to almighty Miramax.
A review said something about the subtitles and that's when I started thinking.
If the subtitles are dubtitles, then 30 minutes of the film were not dubbed, so how did Miramax come up with subtitles for the parts not in the dubbed version? Make them up like they did with Hero?

Hi,
not sure if this is covered anywhere else and not sure if it's totally relevent but has anybody checked out the new Optimum Better Tomorrow dvd? I suppose as Bey is involved and it's one of the Weinstiens titles it could be relevent to this thread.
I picked it up last week and I was even more dissappointed than I had been with any previous releases. The picture is piss poor, the commentary has Bey talking about how he loved the film on it's initial release (which I seem to remember not being the case as he expressed a dislike for the genre in general and especially with CYF for having the audacity to be in a Lau Gar Leung film that wasn't a Kung Fu movie!!!) But the biggest let down was Bey mentioning the Anchor Bay releases and how they got the music wrong and had to exchange the first release discs for fixed re-releases, how the fans dragged them over the coals over it etc, etc. Then I decided to watch the film with the original soundtrack and discovered it had the wrong music, the English dub had more of the original music than the Cantonese track and the film had those awful Atlas intl. credits. For my money a real turd of a release and best avoided.
I'm normally a big supporter of Bey, but even I have serious reservations about the DD releases. Lets hope I'm wrong.
Cheers,
monzo44

Rewind says that they are:-bradavon wrote:Nope. What makes you think that?
Rewind wrote:The subtitles in the original version appear to have been taken from the dub, with the cues altered to match the dialouge. This results in the lack of translation during the scenes not in the US version. Luckily, there are no spelling errors.
