Ridley Scott's Black Rain - anamorphic at last?

Post by EvaUnit02 »

source wrote:Paramount Home Entertainment will release Black Rain: Collector's Edition on October 10th. Expect a brand new anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 track for the 1989 Ridley Scott thriller. No word yet on extras, so stay tuned. Retail will be $14.99.
I'll buy this for sure if it's anamorphic. I haven't bothered with this film yet solely becuz the DVD is non-anamorphic.

I can't wait to finally buy this film. I'm quite a Ridley Scott fan so it's only natural for myself to be wanting to own this. I hope the transfer is nice and grainy like how it was when I watched it. It should be grainy, although alot of people don't like "grainy" transfers though. It's quite unfortunate that alot of people don't know certain films have higher grain structures than others. Mostly due to the film stock used at the time. Gives more of a theatre like feel when watching it.
This is having an audio commentary from Ridley Scott and a four part documentary. Retail is only $14.99 and you can't go wrong with that.

Now all of us Ridley fans could use Special Editions for:

1492: The Conquest of Paradise
G.I. Jane

Wasnt there news that they will re-release a HUGE edition of this movie NEXT YEAR, because it's the 20th/25th/whatever birthday of the movie?

Yup, that's what I wanted to hear. Consider it bought. Highly likely that that making of doco is produced by Charles DeLaurizka too, his stuff kicks arse.

"The disc will incude a new anamorphic transfer of the film at its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio along with English Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby 2.0 Surround audio. Extras will include feature-length audio commentary with director Ridley Scott and an all-new making-of documentary."

Cover sucks though.

Why couldn't they just use the original pimp cover of Douglas and the bike?
