God, I'm terrible at this whole 'don't discuss matters of the court with no-one else'.
Anyways
, today we have had live witnesses up and one of them was a highly accredited fingerprint expert, who said he had given evidence on major trials, like the Lockerbie bombing and so on. Well, he said he had given evidence. What he'd actually done was written a report that wasn't even used in the trial
The prosecution ripped him to shreds and even the judge had a go! I suppose it's only to be expected, when you rubbish the British legal system with in a British courtroom
. The witness had been 'trained' in fingerprint analysis from the UK and then went onto the States. He had come to the conclusion that British analysts weren't as well trained, when in actual fact, several of the cases he'd been involved in had been thrown out because of faulty examination of evidence on his part
I struggled to keep a straight face at times

Yeah... you really shouldnt block kicks using your face....thelostdragon wrote:Ouch! Poor you (again).
Was kicked in the left eye today at Tae Kwon Do class. It stopped hurting after 5 minutes, but 10 minutes ago I realized that it hurts when I switch it to close-sight.
How did he hit you? Hopefully not his toe or something? That could be extremely nasty, especially if the guy hasnt clipped is toe-nails...
And weren't you wearing protection? Or was it just no-contact sparring?

You all are always getting injured!
Be careful, Shen and LD, and take care of yourselves.

Thanks, folks.
@Yi:
It was contact sparring but with torso protection and those protection things that protect your arms. I don't know, he deked a left kick to my head, which I tried to avoid by ducking under it and suddenly he jumped up with a right kick to the body. But as my head was lower now as it was supposed to me, he got me. Dang!
I got really dizzy. He asked me if I was alright and I replied with Frank Dux's, "Come on! Come ooon!" from "Bloodsport". He he he!

Ducking always feels very unnatural to me, as basically you just move closer to more of his weapons (punches, kicks, knees, elbows, grabs)
I always prefer to just move in and out, taking good care of the distancing, and if he punches and I'm withing range, just block, or just punch a straight into his face which usually also stops his punch. (obviously, if he hits with his left, you'lll have to throw that quick counter with your right, so you're face is at least protected by your own shoulder.
Ducking is hardly ever a good option.
(although I did use that bruce lee vs bob wall thing one time, when someone jumped at (and consequently over) me with a flying kick and I dropped myself to the floor and kicked up, into his nuts/ass)
Edit: I really love Bloodsport. it's a pretty lame movie and the martial arts in it is at times laughable, but it's still great fun
Same goes for Kickboxer
And Van Damme at that time was great to watch. He has great form. I still havent seen a better looking spinning split-kick then the one he did. (although, come to think of, Donnie Yen also did a great looking one in Legend of the Wolf)

thanks grim
its not looking good, shes in a coma, just like my grandma was before she died. it seems certain she's had a stroke brought on by the intense heat. i dont think she will pull through to be honest. mums decided not to do down until later on, after seeing her mum in a coma, she doesnt want to go through that again. she's done damn well though, shes already had a stroke and has health problmes, but insited on living in her own home. it really sucks.
in other bad news. my dads facing hip replacements, because his hip joint has collapsed, only..his other health problems prevent him from having any aneasthetics, too high a risk he'd die on the table...
woo fucking hoo, great day

Sad to hear that, Shen. I hope she'll pull through, though it sounds like she doesnt have much chance...
89: wow... that's a respectable age... especially if you can still take care of yourself and still have all your marbles upstairs intact.

yeah she was really awesome, she already had 3 strokes, broken leg, not so stready on her feet but she managed well, and definatley all her marbles upstairs. we only saw her a few months ago, and she was healthy as anything, weird when i see the video we shot of her asking why i was holding a camera up to her and no flash hehe it was great that she loved jackie too, her films always made her happy and giggle. we'll go down for the funeral probably but mum just doesnt want too see her in the coma again. the whole family is devastated
