HOFD (2 disc SE) - is it fixed?

Post by grim_tales »

Have CD-WOW fixed the 2 disc SE of House of Flying Daggers now, or got a new fixed batch? I was going to buy it from them :)

They replaced my faulty disc two weeks ago.

The problem should be fixed by now. :P

What's faulty about it? Mine works fine, from CD WOW.

When did you get it? :)
The problem with the initial batch was that 1) The DTS logo would stutter and break up before the film started and 2) The DVD would freeze for a minutes on Chapter 6 (or 8?) or something like that. But I'm told they got a new batch some time ago. So it should be okay :)

Just after Christmas I think, not before.

I've not tested chapter 6/8 but will tonight, where in this chapter? The DTS logo doesn't freeze.

I'm not sure exactly. If it was just after Xmas you may be OK as CD-WOW got the "fixed" batch in on the middle of January (15/1/05).

What's faulty about it?
The original disc had a faulty second layer.
Right after the layer change the picture starts breaking up and the disc becomes unwatchable.

Does this also apply to the limited edition from CD-WOW?

The first copy I got from CD-Wow was faulty and wouldn't play from chapter 8 onwards. They replaced it straight away and the new copy works fine. This was in January...

As far as I'm aware, this was only a problem with the standard edition, thelostdragon. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

My copy should be fine then, its February now. :)
Yes, AFAIK it was just a problem with the "standard" 2 discer, not the LE.

Why would the LE have different discs as the 2 disc release?

It won't, but IronMonkey was saying the problems were exclusive to the normal 2 discer.

I find that very hard to believe if they're the same discs.

They may be the same discs but the LE and normal editions could have been pressed at different factories or in different batches at the same factory, so of course its possible! :)
