TV Ark

Post by grim_tales »

Check out this site for lots of old stuff you may (or may not) remember from your youth. :D You can find old adverts and idents as well as kids shows. The Channel 4 "sport" idents were extremely clever, I remember the "Football Italia" one (with the 4 logo turning red/white/green) and also a special "Sumo" one for the London Tournament at the Albert Hall in 1991 (I was there) :D

I remember Laurel and Hardy the cartoon (*shudders*), The Pink Panther Show, the 1980's Playschool and Raggy Dolls etc (with a theme song by the great Neil Innes) and Duckula were tops when I was a kid.

Oh, man, nostalgia heaven.

Thanks Grim!! :D

Anyone else think that station logos, adverts, announcers, and, well pretty much everything, was bettter in the 80's??

I'm just looking at how shit the BBC has become. The 1988 logo is rather stylish compared to a hot air balloon(?)

And check out the 1979 opening credits music for Reporting Scotland. Genius.

The hot air balloon was genius compared to what we have now. But I miss the BBC globe :(
Oh man I remember the classic schools programmes on BBC2, Look and Read, Geordie Racer, Through The Dragons' Eye, etc :D
I loved the intro to the "ITV Schools on Channel 4" as well (80's-1993). :)

I'm still looking at the network idents! lol

So many memories... so little time.

The new BBC idents are PC crap. A black guy in a wheelchair? How fucking obvious can you be?

I love the 80's ITN New at Ten music. Powerful!! :D

I don't like all the new dancing and shit with the BBC idents.
Aahh.. the Thames logo. Classic.

The new BBC snooker theme is crap, just not the same as it once was. OK its Drag Racer, but remixed. Blah.

Oh man those adverts are great. I remember the 1989 Aquafresh ad (thats showing again now), the Hovis ad, the Finger of Fudge ad, the 1991 Hula Hoops ad and the Kit Kat one with the Pandas makes me laugh :D
LOL playing the 1990 M&M's ad back, I only just realised the song is sung to tune of The Candy Man :D
The Fruit and Fibre ad (with Ross Kemp) is funny :D

I remember the Trio Bar ad - to the tune of Harry Belafonte's Day-O!

Tri-O, Triiii-O, I want a Trio and I want one now...
