Travelling coming to an end, what films have I missed?

Post by degeneration »

Well my travelling is coming to an end now...

Been in NZ for almost 9 months now and am leaving soon, so as I'll be back in the UK in a while, I want to know what films I've missed out on!!

Can you let me know what are the must see films from HK, Korea, Japan etc that I've got to catch up on, that have been released since about Sept last year!

There may be some that I can buy quite cheaply over here or in Singapore, so I would quite like to know!

Thanks guys!

Have you? :D . I'm sure I've seen you on here. Just NZ? What parts in particular?

Did you do one of the Glacier walks? Man that was great. A must thing to do if going to NZ.

Did you see a fat Eva walking around? :D

Never heard of Sha Po Long.

I have been on here quite a few times, but I've not been following ANYTHING to do with films. Most of my posts have been in the fantasy football threads. So now that I'm coming home soon, I'm looking into what are must get films, just in case any are cheaper here in NZ.

Done the Franz Josef glacier walk and it was awesome, dolphin watching was incredible too, and then there are the 3 skydives, bungee jump, canyon swing, zorbing, jet boat ride, sand boarding, black water rafting... I think that's all... Had an absolutely awesome time, and would highly recommend everyone take about a year out and go travelling!!

Anyway, back on topic... no films at all then?!!!

Recent films:

Hinokio, Great Yokai War, Shinobi, Install (Japan)
Shadowless Sword, Dongmakgol, Lady Vengeance, She's on Duty, Running Wild, Typhoon, The Host, King and the Clown, Forbidden Quest, Duelist (Korea)
Fearless, WuJi, Chinese Tall Story, The Myth, Initial D, SPL, Seven Swords, Seoul Raiders, Riding alone for 1000 miles, Shoe Fairy (China/HK)
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Agreed Franz Josef was awesome. Did you do the half of full day? The half day seemed really pointless. It was over before it started.

I ended up swimming with dolphins in the wild that was incredible (but VERY cold). I didn't do the zorbing but it looked like fun.

Did you go on a tour bus? Me I went on the Kiwi Experience.

A Bittersweet Life - S. Korea
Mind Game - Japan
Howl's Moving Castle - Japan
Takeshis' - Japan

LOL I've only been to the South Island once in my life, a trip on the ferry to Picton when I was about 6 years old. It's funny how always the locals never bother "experiencing their country".

Cheers for the list of films there Tom! They all must sees?

Plan on getting Howl's. Of (and these are only the ones I've got a vague recollection of hearing about) Shinobi, Shadowless Sword, , Lady Vengeance, King and the Clown, Fearless, WuJi, The Myth, Seoul Raiders, are there any good cheap dvd releases?

Eva - you're right about locals not experiencing their own country. I've barely seen any of Scotland and Wales, and I met a 60+ year old kiwi who has never been to the south island.

Brad- I didn't swim with the dolphins cause I can't swim! My girlfriend did though and said it was unbelievable. Did it in Kaikoura. I did quite a few bus tours. From Auckland to Bay of Islands I did the Kiwi Exp, Stray and Magic. Around the main part of the north Island I did Kiwi Exp and Stray on serparate occasions. Did the Kiwi Exp East As for the East coast of the North Island, and did Kiwi Exp on the south island.

Very true. I've never been to Scotland and while I've been to Yorkshire a few times I virtually never go any further north than Bristol :D (which is very much South West).

It's because we have little interest in visiting places we're use to. We've grown up in such countries all/most of your lives so don't really care about seeing the sights that are just next door.

For example to me New Zealand is a much more exciting country than the UK as it's the other side of the world but I bet to Eva it's nothing special.
