Musa Korean DVD
Well i had read a great deal of very good reviews on this disc from CJ entertainment and i finally decided to get it to replace my HK disc so i could have the longer version of the film, and the disc is absolute CRAP.
Can someone please explain to me what the hell is up with the aspect ratio on this disc? The black bars on a 16:9 TV are so big it almost looks non anamorphic, Definitely NOT 2:35:1. Aside from that, the image itself looks like shit, might as well be a port from a damn laserdisc.
I am utterly amazed that this has been reviewed as having a "near flawless anamorphic print". It is by far the worst looking Korean dvd i have ever seen, if not the worst all together!
Can anyone who owns this edition please give some input.

I would like to apologize for the harshness of that post. The dvd is not that bad, i was just upset about the aspect ratio problem. If its 2:45:1 i suppose that would explain it, although i have never seen a 2:45:1 ratio before. I use a 34" 16:9 TV and as much as i love widescreen that is just REALLY narrow for a TV of that size.
Also, i noticed that the music is edited much better in the Internatinal version, especially near the end. (IMO)

How so? I didn't notice it.

I've been saying that since day one. It seems to me that everyone is happy enough with it as it's the only uncut version of the film or at least it was, the R4 is out now and has to be better.
p.s - I wouldn't say it is as bad as you make out but it is pretty shoddy. The cut UK R2 PA DVD is far, far superior.

It was not a big change its just some of the the music cues were in different spots then on the int. version, and i just thought it worked better.
As i admitted, i was alittle too harsh on it by calling the image shit, but it really is not very good. Since i already got rid of my HK disc because i was sure the Korean one would be awesome, i may get the PA disc for the better image.
....but can someone please tell me if the PA aspect ratio is infact 2:35:1, and not this crazy 2:45:1.

Cool screenshots. It is hard to tell if there is any 2.45:1 cropping but I guess the Korean screenshots would've been resized to fit up against the PAL size of the PA disc video?
As an aside, what you do use to get those bitrate profiles? They're pretty cool.
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the PA DVD is 2.35:1.
Don't forget the R4 which maybe better than the Korean DVD.

Honestly cannot say the picture is bad at all, not sure if they released different prints of the korean dvd as mine looks very nice. [/quote]
I'm surprised you say this considering you're usually very fussy over the AV quality.
