I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

hey,

Read Lloyd Kaufman's biography of the studio? Funny stuff.
Indeed. This from a time where Lloyd Kaufman had ditched some of the excess and was trying to please censors. Still, the Japanese producers didn't much approve of the minor gore and sex he DID put into the film. They wanted a franchise with movies, toys, games etc. Still, all that excess didn't stop Toxic Avenger from turning into a kids friendly franchise in the form of all of the above.I watched loads of them, awful films, but strangley watchable, even the worst ones.

Lloyd Kaufman for me is a great man, as he creates crap that makes cash and he has fun (and so does everyone around him) doing it.
He is also very honest, which is always nioce to see and he isnt afrid to call actors and directors he has worked with on bigger maninstream films, total wankers. I have since read a lot about him and always enjoy reading interviews with the man, but I dont read books, always wait for the film.
I havent read his book, but I watched his TV shows, we had Troma TV over here in the UK for a long time on very late at night and it was a great show, mental in the brain and pretty funny too.
They would also show a film each week from his back catalogue so I got to see every single one they showed on TV over here and I think they showed almost all the "classics" and many of the lesser ones too, if it were not for his TV show I dont think I would ever have seen any.
Its an addictive quality of film making to me and I miss the show not being on UK tv anymore as there is no other way to see the films without paying for them, and no way I would pay to see most them films
some of them they would have to pay me to see them!

hey,
He's also put out a book in later years focusing even more on the fimmaking, called "Make Your Own Movie".
The book I'm referring to is "All I Need To Know About Filmmaking I Learned From The Toxic Avenger". It's very much fun because as much as it is a history of the studio, it's also the making of the book in a sense. Lloyd is being a complete uncooperative asshole towards to co-author James Gunn throughout, doing things his own profane ways. Hilarious.I havent read his book, but I watched his TV shows, we had Troma TV over here in the UK for a long time on very late at night and it was a great show, mental in the brain and pretty funny too.

Wow, that's . . . um, obscure.
Never seen any of them, and I think that's probably a good thing.
