That is most definitely not in the rules.

New rule. Doesn't affect past games.

I hate vague clues like "it's Asian" or "it's not Asian".

Big fucking help.

A rule like that would eliminate many films from the game, simply because the country of origin would give the film away. I specifically did not put Italy down for Life is Beautiful because it would have given the film away.

Also, if a film was made in more than one country, then people just do an imdb search to find the title. Not exactly a fun or challenging game that way, imo.

You should watch it, then. Begnini was criticized for making a "comedy" about the Holocaust, but I find it an incredibly moving film. A father tries to preserve his son's innocence in the face of an unfathomable horror against humanity. It is a worthy film, and one I desperately needed to re-watch this past weekend after teaching The Diary of Anne Frank to my students. The experience of teaching about the Holocaust left me with mixed emotions about my future being left in the hands of the children I teach each day. Some were sickened and depressed by the thought that mankind could commit such horrible acts. Others seemed unphased and snickered when death camps were mentioned with such strangely "foreign" names like Bergen-Belsen. How could a 14-year-old boy find humor in the name of a place where thousands of innocent people lost their lives? Was it a strange way of coping with something so uncomfortable? Was it simple ignorant callousness? I don't know. I can only hope it was the former, but I honestly can't believe that as a rational explanation to soothe my fears concerning the youth of today.

Well, screw it all. I was going to wait for Bisc to confirm that I'd guessed correctly, but now it's after 1:00 a.m. and I need to go to bed. I know all of you on the other side of the pond will be chomping at the bit to keep the game moving, so I'll go ahead and post a new grab for you. I'll still be sound asleep over here while the rest of you are up and about, starting your Monday. :)

So here goes:

And no Mark, I'm not going to tell the country of origin, other than to say it's NOT Asian, and it's NOT a Hollywood film. :P

A movie for TV is still a movie. Plus like I and Boobie and many others have already explained many many times, in some cases listing the country would just give it away and ruin the game. It's obvious that for Japan, HK, Korea and Hollywood, you must just list the exact country, but for countries like the UK, France, Italy, Russia, China, etc etc... it's really a case of personal choice. Obviously you should say it's non-asian, non-hollywood etc... but you are not forced to list the exact country in these cases.

As Bisc said: stop making up new rules, especially not if we've already discussed these rules a couple of times before.

Also, we've had TV series before. No-one seemed to have a big problem with it at the time, as far as I remember.

Are documentaries allowed? Short movies? I guess if they're well-known, or if the poster already says it's a documentary or a short movie or whatever. I wouldnt have a problem with it.

edit:
New Rule; Every time Mark complains about the existing rules, everyone else gets a point. Mark loses 3. :D

Too iffy I'd say. People would know like say Bowling of Columbine or Super Size Me, but not something like say the Horizons special that was on telly the other week.

So, is 68m's real name Roberta then? Daddy was disappointed that you were born a girl?

If it's available on DVD and is a movie/feature length title - then I don't see why it can't be chosen. It still complies with the current rules. It's not like I went out of my way to find a loophole...

I'm taking off to check out some of the holiday sales in a few minutes, so I'll go ahead and give another clue a bit early.

And to re-cap, it's NOT a Hollywood film, and obviously not Asian.

Guesses so far:

The Devil's Backbone
Meia Noite
Rabbit Proof Fence
Walkabout

nope.

If I may:

About made-for-TV movies.
The rules allow for feature films. Whether they are made for TV or not, they're still movies. I think we should allow them.

@Mark:
Every time you complain about the rules, God kills a kitten. Stop fucking complaining !

Not sure I could take 2 hrs of Benigni under any circumstances... but maybe one day?

Kids are desensitised to everything these days. Violence, death, drugs, rape, torture... it's all just a big game, right? You should show them Schindler's List. If that doesn't work... not sure anything will. But I share your concerns.

Tom, control is yours again. AS OF NOW. I don't see the point of asking me to take control and then spending more time on here than ever (...than me) I'm out of the game. It's become stupid what with TV movies (has this been screened outside of the USA?) and pointless assignations like "asian". Well, duh! The Asian people gave one that away! The first round was fun, this one is a dud. Bye!

Is this like the time in the first game, where you also said you'd leave the game, then almost won it!? :D

Your arguements are petty, immature and so ridiculously flawed. I bet you'd have a go if I posted a grab from American Pie Presents: Band Camp, because it was released straight to video.

So what if it's not be screened outside USA? How many films posted here have not been screened outside their native shores?

I've just realised that the only time we've argued in this game is because you were unhappy. These silly little changes that only you seem to demand are starting to get on my nerves. You're doing yourself and everyone a favour by not playing - so yeah, cya. :salute:
