I heard that it was censored on some DVDs.
EDIT: Yep, confirmed.
The CJ Entertainment disc is heavily contrast-boosted, blurry and censored. Where did CTV find their print ?
Note that the french disc is the only one in which you can actually see the rain in shot N°4.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

17 min on my dvd.
Brad, even if you can't take screencaps, can you please compare your thai dvd with the french (and maybe other dvds when the caps come) dvd and post some comments. I don't have time for subbing every single french dvd and I need something good and cheap fast...

Everybody deserves the right to see Shin Ha-Gyun's penis.
Hope you find a better DVD.
LD ? Can we get some korean or german stuff from you ?

Mangpong (Thailand) added and again all I altered was the vertical resolution to 408 from 480. I notice the others are 404, which is better?
I never realised the Thai R3 was so dark, it's not to bad for under a fiver. It bears the HK R3 which was only goal:
Anamorphic
Korean DTS/DD5.1
English subs which are mostly fine but near the end some lines look like the person creating the subs fell asleep on the keyboard
Making Of - Not subtitled in English
Yuck. Shot N°3 looks like it was done during the night.
+ Picture is very soft. Me doesn't like the Thai DVD.

You know, a funny thing, I never noticed how dark my WWC disc was either. I didn't considered it a great disc, but didn't think it was quite that bad. I always thought that was the way the movie was shot and that no dvd release would look great. But Tom has once again proven me wrong. I guess I'll be getting the french disc one day.
I'm sure the french DVD is how the movie is supposed to look:
If there was contrast boosting, it would be visible in the first shot.
The whites should be clipped, but they're not (top of the owl's head).
In fact, the french DVD shows more detail in the whites than the other versions.

I didn't mean the french dvd isn't how the movie is supposed to look. I meant that I though the original material was poor (like Ashes of Time) and no dvd would ever look great because of that. But I was wrong (not sure if that's a good thing, considering I have about 12 dvds waiting for subbing )
I heard the Tartan UK DVD was a NTSC-PAL transfer with combing and ghosting à go-go. Other than that it's supposed to be fine.

It's funny, because Sunfilm was supplied with the exact same print that was used by CJ Entertainment. However, Sunfilm messed up with the re-mastering.
