Eurovision '06

Post by grim_tales »

I heard our um.. "song" again for Eurovision last night (on some sort of retrospective programme).
Its' still utter shite. Maybe the judges will be convinced we're taking the piss and give it the ironic vote :D
The Daz Sampson guy looks far too old, like your embarrassing older brother or something, and those girls do look a bit young don't they? :o
Terry Wogan did use the expression "by cracky" at one point, and when he asked Sampson what he will wear on the night:

Terry: So, um.. we all know - how the girls will be.. attired, but what will you wear?
Daz: I'm gonna leave it as a surprise on the night
Terry: You'll just wear what you wering now [stonewashed jeans and denim jacket] won't you?!

Oh god I'd forgotten about this. Stop the madness TV is going to hell. A summer of:

Eurovision
Celebrity X-Factor

At least those won't go on for to longer but wait it gets worse months of fucking:

Big Brother
World Cup

All I'll here from now until eternity is football, football and football. Just when my sanity is starting to get back to normal I'll have to have my ears and eyes attacked by Big Brother, Big Brother and Big Brother.

I think I'll go and hibernate.

Rant over :D

Okay Doctor Who is tops but that's not mass media hysteria TV.

p.s - Fair enough if you like Eurovision me I find it painful. At least I suppose Celebrity X-Factor will be mildly entertaining.

I probably won't watch Eurovision itself, just the voting - Wogan's sarcastic wit is always good value :D
True Celebrity X Factor could be fun and its for charity so fair do's :)

I cant wait for the World Cup :D

I love the World Cup.

You just know Brad was always picked last at sports.

Big Brother is shite. It's TV for chavs.

Celebrity X-Factor might be a laugh if Simon slags of the celebrities (and if said celebrities are people we've actually heard of!)

Eurovision is car crash tele. So hideous curiousity compels me to watch it. :D

I don't get why 90% (it must be about that) of the world's male population love football. Can't people think on there own? There's something not right about this.

I would've except I actively went out of my way to do everything I could think of to get out of the School Sports lessons. The wanker teaches knew I was rubbish at sports and hated the entire experience but when I couldn't come up with an excuse I still had to do it. I may have got better if I'd tried but who actually wants to do something they don't like doing?

I have many memories of standing by the edge of a field in the freezing winter cold counting the seconds until the lesson was over while everyone else was literally running around me playing some stupid game of hockey or such like. This used to really piss my teacher off. I didn't care I detested the whole experience.

My parents complained to the school asking if I could do something else. I honestly was happier to do homework (I wasn't trying to get out of work) but the stupid teachers said no I had to do it.

I really, really hated Sports day. I used to complain I'd come last so what's the point. They just said it's the taking part that matters: BOLLOCKS. Where's the fun finishing way after everyone else. Thankfully there was a select few of us who each year didn't want to do it so instead we were punished by doing some really pointless exercise just to prove the point. Again I wasn't able to do my homework.

Man I hate the school attitude to fitting in, you must do sports, you must sing during hymm classes (I didn't believe it, why should I?). I couldn't wait to leave the ruddy place.

I much more enjoyed college. I had a good time there.

From my point of view ALL sports are really dull and boring. I just don't get the excitement. I've literally watched one football match in my life and that was one World Cup England match years back. It was marginally enjoyed but I've got no interest in doing it again.

I'd much rather read a book or watch a film where I can actually learn something or watch an action flick and switch off.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against exercise and team play fair from it but I just detest Sports.

That said The Lingerie Bowl is freakin' awesome:

Give me lovely ladies over sweaty men in shorts any day.

I think we may have found the root of Brad's problem with sports....

I should be a psychologist.

Or is it a psycho?

Nope. The first one. 8)

I doubt Eastern Europe will buy Daz's scary gurning and schoolgirl fetish. Looking forward to seeing how everyone reacts to Finland's entry though. ;)

The UK song is ubershite. Some middle-aged bloke pretending he's 25 and prancing about with suspiciously young looking school girls is not my idea of good entertainment. And it's rap. I'm looking forward to a nul-point score. :D

Daz is 32, is that middle aged? I know what you mean though. Agree, it is a bad song indeed.

Quite liked Denmark's entry which had a sort of retro feel to it (well it was about the "Twist" dance anyway :D ) That guy's breakdancing on stage was class
In the face of stuff like this and Germany's strange country song I can see our entry crashing and burning.

Lithuania did suprisingly well but I agree, I pissed myself laughing. That mental bald bloke was nuts.

Gotta love the Finnish effort. HungFist must be proud. I quite fancy a little hard rock halleluiah. 8)

Some of the European ladies were lovely. I only caught the count and remember the lady who read out the Spanish vote was top cheese.

I detested the Lithium entry. It was pure cheek but not in a good way (although I did laugh at the mental baldy). Cheek in a good way was Finland. They were class. Two fingers up at Europap. I can't believe Russia did so well (mind you, most of that was political voting) and Bosnia was a bore. I hate the "ethnic" songs. Sweden were catchy as usual, should've done better. Terry was a bit mild tonight. I was coming up with funnier remarks at home. An incredible amount of fit birds on disaply - from the hostess to the performers (did you guys see the one with the denim shorts? yum!) . I was pissed that Spain decided to do their count in French. Treacherous bastards. So in all madcap entertainment but thank god it's only once a year. It'll take me 12 months to recover.

Watching sports is duller than watching paint dry - especially rugby, cricket and sailing.

I was the same as Brad, I did everything I could to avoid P.E. classes. Sometimes I got my parents to write fake notes to get me out it - especially on fucking Athletics Day. Cross-country was the fucking worst though, having to run around the field (and in Intermediate school - the neighbourhood streets) was awful.

In high school (for 3rd-5th form) if you didn't bring your PE gear, you'd get PE detentions and if you missed 3 PE detentions then you'd get a "real" detention. Not that I cared, I'd rather copy drug and smoking fact sheets than do P.E.

I remember one time in 4th form during a game of hockey I got so fucking sick of it that I spat on the astro-turf and flipped off the fat dyke teacher. She sent me to the Dean with a note full of spelling mistakes, I had a good chuckle at that.

"Spain did their count in French" - what do you mean Mark?
I agree about Finland BTW, at least it was very different, and Lithuania was just so silly IMO. Pure cheese! :D
