Woo hoo awesome. We've been waiting flipping years for this. I really hope they don't cock this up.

It's obvious everyone wants a big ass face off.

p.s - LD why do you use that Javascript page loading animation? It's really annoying :)

Yeah, it's about time it happened. You know, two friends of mine have written a script for the two, but were told off by HK producers, because they said it was too complicated to realize. Apparently, it seemed to be impossible at that time to get Jackie's and Jet's agents together. Man, I'm scared to tell my two friends about this.

I always see JC as a funny man and JL as a serious hardass. Wonder what angle the film will go for...

From Monkeypeaches.com:
According to Hong Kong's Oriental Daily and The Sun, Jackie Chan and Jet Li have agreed to star in the same movie now only known as The J & J Project, which will be announced officially with a teaser trailer during the coming Cannes Film Festival. An unidentified studio initialed the project, which has been in development for three months already. Jackie Chan will start working on the project after finishing Rush Hour 3. Chan's other projects, like The Shinjuku Incident, with director Yee Tung-Shing and the untitled project with Zhang Yimou may have to be postponed for The J & J Project. Jet Li reportedly has turned down several Hollywood offers to make time for the project with Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan and Jet Li have been exploring the possibility of working together for many years. Will The J & J Project finally make the dream come true?

You're a connected guy or maybe you're even a made man :D

Can't you go to other studios? or can't they adapt it for other stars? Any chance of leaking what the story is about or is that to risky?

Fair enough. It goes away by itself.

Not me. Two friend who wrote the thing. But they tried several producers and they all thought it was too impossible. Well, no need to say that I'm utterly surprised right now.

I'm sure they could. But it would have to be stars who are known well enough to in Asia and Hollywood as the story takes place in HK and in the USA. Really hard to co-ordinate.

As for the storyline... I won't give it away in public. Not only because I'm afraid someone could steal it, but out of respect for the two authors of it. Haven't talked to them for about 3 months or so. I'll have to check out what their progress is.

Cool news if it happened 10 years ago, but Jackie hasnt made a good movie in ages...
Also, it's sad that Jet Li has said that Fearless was his last wushu flick, cause the only Jackie project I would be interested in, would be some kind of follow up to DM2.
However, it still sounds better then any of the other Jackie projects mentioned in the last 5-10 years, so I'm not TOO negative.

:D . Good point I hope it's a HK NOT USA production. I "fairly" confident both have learnt there lesson.

To be fair Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2 are some of Jackie's better American efforts. The Tuxedo anyone? That literally only had Jennifer Love-Hewitt going for it, nothing more (man I wouldn't say no to that lovely lady).

Jackie's HK productions of the last 8-10 years orso, also werent that good, so I dont care much if it's a USA or HK movie, as long as it has a decent script, good action, a good director, good editor and choreographer, and no singers/rappers who are trying to act.

Plus, I'd appreciate it if they wouldnt sell the rights to the Weinsteins, or let Bey Logan anywhere near the writing process.

To be honest, I'm also looking forward to "Rush Hour 3".

But the JC-film I'm looking forward to the most is "Shinjuku Incident" which will be directed by Derek Yee. It's supposed to be a real gangster/yakuza flick taking place primarily in Shinjuku/Tokyo.

Real as in drama LD?

I'm looking forward to RH3 too. They're perfect movie for Bret Ratner's talents (yes he has some, minor as they are :D). Overall they're better films than the Shanhai ones. I only liked Noon of those and two and then the RH's were better.

Sinjuku Incident looks interesting, I'm sure they'll be some goofy "Jackie" stuff in there somewhere but it would be nice to see JC act in a grittier, harder type of film (like Crime Story).
Look forward to that. :)
OK the Rush Hours were fun but watered down Chan for the American market, all they did was slap Jackie in a buddy comedy :D So there. :D

The thing is by expecting the Jackie of Police Story and Drunken Master 2 you're going to be disappointed. Expect the Jackie of Rush Hour 2 (Which I think is considered Jackie's best American effort) and you're much more likely to have a good time.

I don't even think RH or RH2 are bad films, far from it. People expect a Hong Kong film from America which has never happened and never will. The markets are just so different.

At least Jackie has made a decent American film. All of Jet Li's films are really bad.

p.s - I prefer RH and RH2 to PS and DM2 :D , DM2 especially.

According to Jackie himself there won't be. It will be a very serious and dark crime film. He said that after "New Police Story" he played a general and an archeologist in "The Myth". So two roles in one movie. Next he played in a 100% comedy film. And after that he would play a very serious character in Derek Yee's "Shinjuku Incident". According to Jackie he wants to show his versatility as an actor.

I believe he can do it. People will just have to accept it. Friends of mine were disappointed by "New Police Story" as they weren't used to a crying and serious Jackie. They were expecting to watch JC slapstick and JC as the clown again.

Over the years, Jackie has put himself into a category out of which he will have a hard time to escape. Not so Jet Li (apart from the martial arts factor).

Kiss of the Dragon and Danny the Dog are French films designed for a global audience and are reportedly decent. I've seen neither so I can't comment.

LD do you prefer slapstick Jackie or serious Jackie? I like both.
I really liked RITB, that was a very good American film from Jackie IMO.

I thought that Rumble in the Bronx was an HK film geared for an international audience (as was Police Story 4: First Strike, Who Am I, Mr Nice Guy?)?

Well yeah but I was talking about Jet's American films.

DTD is great but KOTD is bad, it has some decent action though (I guess).

I like both, too. But I got to like the serious Jackie more later when I was familiar with him as an actor. He is a great character actor who is veryx underrated by Western critics in regards to his acting abilitites.

I love "RitB" and Jackie really plays a serious character in this film, too. It is a very dark film in my opinion, especially due to the alley scene when he is attacked by the gang throwing bottles at him.

I agree - even its cut form RITB feels more like an HK "Jackie" film than Rush Hour/Noon/Knights do for some reason. I liked Who Am I too!
