THAT caused my reaction. I never said that the Muslims in this film are 2D cutouts or anything similar. If it wasn't your intention to make it appear as if I wanted to say that, then I apologise.EvaUnit02 wrote:I'm sure if there was an Islamic film on the Crusades then the key Muslim army figures would be fully developed and the Crusaders would be 2D cutouts.
Clearly, you have not read a single interview with Ridley Scott about this film. The film was made from the Crusaders' perspective...

Seriously I don't understand why muslims (or in this case LD) keeps obsessing over cultural/religious history? Aren't you German?
It's not like I go nuts everytime they get vikings all wrong in a film is it? Like say The 13th Warrior?
(I'm not flaming LD for being LD or for being muslim... I just wonder why these topics keep popping up...)

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Personally I think as much as Scott likes to think he's being fair:
A: He's a Christian (I'm pretty sure?) so even slightly biased without even realising it maybe.
B: This is a Western film so is going to ultimately veer even slightly to the Christian side.
As for what Gojensen has said I have to agree tbh. No offence LD but you did fly off the handle earlier up this post so you were going nuts. I'm not saying you didn't have a point or right to, far from it just pointing it out.
The Patriot is completely and utterly inaccurate in portraying the American war of independence but most Brits still loved it. I thought it was rubbish because it was incredibly poorly made myself. The fact I'm sure many Americans now believe it to be accurate is somewhat worrying though.
I prefer to think of myself as English with Irish heritage far before I think of myself as British but it's what my passport says.
Ask a Quebecan if they think they're Canadian?

Interesting point you raise over what our nationality is versus what we believe we are inside.Besides, I am German according to my passport, but I am not interested in German history as much as I am in Islam's history.

Ok... I'm new to this thread, but did I miss something? Why the hype about a 4-disc release for a movie that was absolutely trashed in the reviews!?
Why does this movie even GET a 4-disc release!?
Yet a movie like Out of Sight still only has a non-anamprphic 1 disc release in R2...
Anyway, I guess LD is upset because the director acts like he's telling a realistic portrayal of how itw ent down, while in fact it's a very one-sighted and 1-dimensional, sensational look at the events. The director had a huge chance to do something very very interesting, yet he made a simple western-propoganda period-action flick.
Not that we should be surprised though. We've seen Hollywood doing this for ages now. When was the last time a big epic Hollywood movie really also showed the islamic side of events!? Lawrence of Arabia or something!? I honestly dont know.

I love Out of Sight.
And I wont be buying the region 1, cause I'm sure that one day it will get a decent release...
How did you like Orlando Bloom in this flick then? I cant imagine seeing a movie with him in the lead, and not be annoying my ass off. He's such a lousy actor with little to no charisme....
Did they edit him out and replace him with a CGI cardboard box!? As THAT would probably be a better performance.

Remember how you got really mad when you heard Seven Swords was cut to shreds well this is the same.Yi-Long wrote:Ok... I'm new to this thread, but did I miss something? Why the hype about a 4-disc release for a movie that was absolutely trashed in the reviews!?

I assume you've not seen it? Because like Seven Swords it really feels cut (even more so). I knew as soon as the film finished if it was uncut it would've been sooo much better. It had oodles of potential.
Plus for me anyway I love these epic films.
Yeah that's weird, get the R1 job done. Personally I thought it was average.Yet a movie like Out of Sight still only has a non-anamprphic 1 disc release in R2...
That's almost as stupid as your rambling about the Ong-Bak R4.Yi-Long wrote:I love Out of Sight. And I wont be buying the region 1, cause I'm sure that one day it will get a decent release...
Not bad. Yes he's not the right man for the job but better than expected.Yi-Long wrote:How did you like Orlando Bloom in this flick then?
Besides the cuts the MTV style battle editing annoyed me most. I hope they fix that.

The film is fine, anamorpic and 5.1, but the extras are awful, just because its got loads of extras does not mean they are good quality. They are shit plain and simple, as watchable as paint dryinggrim_tales wrote:Why not? Its' anamorphic. 5.1, has a commentary, making of and deleted scenes. Romero what more do you want?
I demand quality extras that are not just promo puff piece shit.
