Mocking Islam = Bad, Mocking Christianity = Good

Post by bradavon »

I've not clicked on the link yet but I do find it interesting how Christianityphobia is allowed but Anti-Semitism or offending Islam is definitely not. It seems this is the case anyway.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be this way as such it's just interesting one is allowed/tolerated and another isn't.

Brad's got a point. Jokes about/pertaining to any religion other than Christianity wouldn't be allowed. Can we have a similar thread mocking Jewish or Islamic signs? Thought not... I have absolutely no problems with the Church being mocked, I just find it irritating that such satire only seems to work one way.

Yup double standards is always fun, certain people should be defending this with vicious ignorance, but they wont. Strange.

Thats why I dont like any religions so I dont care. People need to chil out and accept fun does not make that person a target for religious hate.

I found them signs funny, as did I many other religious things on this forum which people find serious, its not as if any god will ever do anything about it.

You know what I think the answer is simple:

1. People use free speech to depict Christianity in a bad light people moan a bit and at most display some signs.
2. People use free speech to depict Islam in a bad light SOME people beat the crap out of you, torch shit and generally cause major havoc.

Does it make the Christianity mick taking any better hell no but I get the feeling it doesn't happen more against other religions because of the fear people have.

Why don't Christians retaliate more?

Go to parts of the American Mid-West and I bet they'd complain.

Religion is on the decline across Europe, fact.

As you've said before Mark, nothing should be beyond satire/debate....
The sickening spectacle of the protestors who torch embassies, threaten to behead people etc is just plain wrong, OK Christians sent protest letters about the Springer programme but they werent as bad as the other protestors.

hence why i didnt post in that thread, its funny yeah, but only becuase we are so familiar with chrisitanity, but also i owuldnt join in becuase everyone has the right to believe in their god, or gods, or antichrists or what ever and has the right to be free from ridicule as i said previously, but i cant say that there arent things i dont find funny that make fun of religion/political beliefs, i do make fun of politics greatly, but in a way that people know im joking and not attacking them personally, hell i drew churchill infront of the swastika for an exam piece in my A-Level, but thats just my own views.

but i wouldnt go all out the make fun of someones personal beliefs, and religion is such a tetchy subject right now, that double standards are such that you can t accept them, if you cant make fun of one religion then ou shouldnt make fun of the others.

and in response to Grims post about chrisitans, if you look back in history they have killedand murderedand plundered etc, for "religious" reasons, which is why i support no religion at all, becuase in all history recent and ancient there is death and murder and suffering inflicted upon another person or peoples.

i probably sound so P.C. lol but nah i just think that everyone and everything deserves respect, which is contradictory to what i said about somethings, but yeah i do make fun of things but mainly politics and stuff

I know they did in that past Shen, but they're hardly as radical as that now.
You're right, I agree, everyone has the right to believe what they want, but everyone should be allowed to say what they want (within acceptable limits). I mean, nobody insulted Islam by saying "Muslims go to hell and die", the cartoon was a satirical sketch trying to make a point, OK it was insulting but the response was way OTT.
Err.. did that make sense? :D

hmm some are as radical i would think, like any group, there are the radicals who are usually the minority.

i usually say what i want through drawings, then if people dont like it they dont have to look at it, but i would never personally attack a person for their beliefs, verbally or otherwise, i have some friends who are religious (this term sounds wrong lol), and some are awesome and i love like they would be family. and others are scary at times when i wont conform to their beliefs and argue back that i dont agree, ones even stopped speakign to me! lol no loss there. itsl ike we are all entitled to our beliefs and to say them outloud, but i think the responsibilty is to know when to say nothing, or when to stop and how to say it tht isnt offensive.

Care to elaborate? You think Churchill was a Nazi? :o

I don't. I don't respect any religion. But I do respect people's human right not to be persecuted if they do.

lol not quite, but basically through my own research evidence suggests that the same peopel were controlling both sides of the war, banks funding both sides, corporations etc. so i decided to highlight this. and from what i have learnt churchill was not all innocent either. so i just decided i would show my views on this....he wasnt a nazi, but then he wasnt a saint either, just like hitler wasnt stupid, he was a genius, but a meglomaniac. if he got rid of the superiority complex and such he would have made a good leader, even he WAS a good leader he pulled germany from despair and made her strong, until he started killing those deemed "lesser"

here...

WTF is this thread all about, that link is not taking the mickey out of Christian, in fact it seems pro Christian website. If someone writes offensive stuff on the sign, then it is down to him to be punished or asked. Why create a thread saying that is okay to mock Christian when it isn't

Plus on that link, I haven't seen anyone mock the Prophet Jesus (PBUH), if someone could provide that on the Church Sign Generator site, then I will complain about it, because the prophet is also our prophet as well.

I love the way people commenting on this thread, mixing one thing which could also be used as to promote christians eg a sign generator and a satire cartoon of a prophet. Now if you had a cartoon of Prophet Jesus (PBUH) doing something stupid or being a terrorist, and Christian are simply taking it, then this thread is merit.

We should all be Buddhist. The only religion afaik that supports freedom to choice your own religion, freedom to be yourself etc . . . etc . . .

You'll never hear of a Buddist blowing up shit, it goes against the entire religion. From the small amount I know of it. That said the terriorists in Southern Thailand are Buddhist; I think???

I'd say the sheer fact we're having a laugh out of putting any non-Christian writing on a sign meant for a church many would find offensive.

I find it interesting how some religions you must never ever mock but others it's almost excepted now a days.

Churchill saved this country from the worst fate imaginable. None of us would even be here to debate if it weren't for him. I think to even mention Churchill in the same breath as Hitler is grossly offensive to war veterans who fought in our name not to mention politically naive. I'd be interested to see what lead you to your conclusions.
just like hitler wasnt stupid, he was a genius, but a meglomaniac. if he got rid of the superiority complex and such he would have made a good leader, even he WAS a good leader he pulled germany from despair and made her strong, until he started killing those deemed "lesser"
Hitler was an exceptional politician but it should not be forgotten that even before his annihilation programme that he rose to power through hatemongering against jews and exploitation of nationalistic tendencies harbouring since the end of the first world war. If any politician did that alone today we would not be lining up to call him a great leader. Subsequent European invasions or not.

1. i did not accept the official hisotry books as truth i looked elsewhere for info's too much happens in this worldfor it to be conicidence. some books are "david icke - the biggest secret and the truth shall set you free" (yeah here icke is a nutter but read his work before you decide) do any reasearch into these families, the rothscilds, the habsburgs, the windsors, the rockerfellers, companies like I.G Farben, Ford, General Electric. Also groups like the Bilderbergs, Zionist (no they arent jewish) also there are some books which i am to read soon such as "wall street and the rise of hitler by anthony sutton"

Also, Hitler was a great politican, and i dont find it offensive to write churchill and hitler in the same sentence, both my grandfathers fought in the 2nd world war, and although i know it was horriffic, it doesnt mean i shall accept the offical version, of course hitler did wrong in killing but churchill killed, so has nearly every american president, though orderign some war, or by the death sentence etc etc. yes Hitler had a superiorty complex, but my point was if he had curbed the hate on jews and such and his meglomania he would have been an awesome politician. He was a genius in most sense of the word, but he was insane too. and that was a bad combination in this case, i dont advocate genocide, but no matter what someone says you cant deny he help germany become a strong country after the devastation of the treaty of versailles and the weimar government.

I know many Christians who keep on telling me that they believe in God and Jesus, but not in church.

In Islam, there is nothing similar to church as the constitution it has been in the Christian world. That's why there isn't anything in Islam a Muslim would doubt. But as I said... many Christians doubt church.

What I do find a little worrying is most Christians it seems don't even know how Christianity started. I have little knowledge of it myself (but don't pertain to be a Christian) but know the stupid thing of this all is:

Christianity, Islam and Judaism

All derive from the same god. The first Christian were Jews.

Christianity has more holes than swiss cheese and I expect if I knew more about Islam it would be the same.

This much is true of all the faiths. All are one and the same; the God-creator just has different names. I believe in Hebrew s/he is known as Jahweh, and in Arabic it's Allah. Means the same thing though. Each though has plenty of names, which are pretty much adjectives of this being.
According to Islam, there have been thousands of prophets; people just trying to bring God's message to others, it's just that Muslims believe that Muhammad was the last.

Muslims (and Christians) believe Jesus was a Prophet too, no?
