Battlestar Galactica S2
I just finished watching the 2nd season premiere, Scattered. Tense stuff, I loved it. 8)
This is truly the best scifi show in years, I just hope the writing remains crisp.

I really like this show, but the whole 'frak' thing REALLY gets on my nerves and pretty much ruins many of the scenes for me. I find it astounding that the writers actually decided to use that, and use it in ways like "mother frakker" and "frak me" etc..
It makes the dialog seem silly, and greatly detracts from the show as a whole, IMO.
Other then that its great stuff.

Agree with you there. I really like the way they've attempted to change the way the show's going. The whole 1 year later thing was great. Seriously did not see that coming. The dissolve between Baltar just after taking office and one year later when he's got those foxy ladies (of the night variety) knocking about his office was a great way to show complete lack of direction on his part
I also agree with ReconFive about the 'frak' thing. Sounds like something out of South Park: "Instead of shit, say poo, as in 'bull-poo', 'poo-head' and 'this poo is cold'." The writers of The Shield (the best written drama on TV bar none) manage to make its dialogue hard and edgy without the need for lots of swearing, so the writers on BSG shouldn't need to resort to swear-substitutes.
However, I do need to take some credit away from the series as a whole which originally I had allocated to it. The technique used for way the battle sequences are shot is something I'd originally thought was used on Attack Of The Clones and then further developed and honed for Battlestar Galactica. But, as it turns out, it was first used on Firefly. So the show is less progressive than I previously thought.
Despite that, it still rocks

Battlestar Galactica is definitely the best thing to happen to sci-fi in a long while. Assuming they don't screwed up with the whole religion/philosophical point of view this could become the greatest science-fiction series ever or at least second behind Babylon 5.
I quite liked the swearing substitutes in Farscape but I admit that the Battlestar Galactica Frack, Fracking etc annoys me as well.
While Firefly may have been the first to use the "documentary style" for the CGI sequences on a week-by-week basis. I'm 99 per cent sure I recently saw a similar CGI sequence in the 1995 Fox sci-fi series Space :Above and Beyond. Perhaps they tried to use it in one or two episodes and found it impossible to produce on the computers of the time? After all Battlestar Galactica was definitely influenced by Space :Above and Beyond which was years ahead of its time.

I liked Space: Above And Beyond when it aired. Kristen Cloke was rather tasty too
, and Starbuck is directly influenced from her character.
It was also the first time I ever saw James Morrison, who I rate as an actor. It's just a shame he's not had better roles. He's currently doing the rounds in 24 as Bill Buchanen, but is used by Glen Morgan and James Wong on a frequent basis (hence his role in The One.)
As for the CGI-style, perhaps that is the case; it's been absolutely ages since I've seen an episode of it, so can't really confirm this.

Space: Above And Beyond still stands up very well 10 years on! I agree Kristen cloke was and is still extremely tasty
. It was also the first time I saw James Morrison who I also rate as an actor and yes I've noticed him in other Morgan and Wong productions noticeably recently in Jet Li's the One. To be honest I don't really care for his work on 24 although I doubt it has anything to do with his performances.
It's a real pity that Space: Above And Beyond got cancelled and I would still love to see the series continued in some form or other.
I don't suppose anybody knows when Battlestar Galactica season 2.5 DVDs will be released on region 1?

I haven't even started with the first. I have the boxset, but the first episode says: "Previously..."
So I was like WTF? I noticed I'll have to buy the pilot first. Aaaaargh! Not expensive over here really, but what I like so much about a TV series is that you can simply watch an episode when you don't have a lot of time. While when I want to watch a film, I have to invest more time.
