R2UK - "Snuff Bottle Connection" in May! Yay!

About time if you ask me. It comes with great extras considering the fact that Roy Horan does the audio commentary. He is a good commentarian if you ask me. Do you think it has been previously recorded by HKL before they gave the rights away to SoulBlade?

I'll wait for a review though, because SB have messed up their DVD release of "Dance of the Drunken Mantis".

Non-anamorphic = big no no. Especially for scope films like this.

The review mentions letterbox, which commonly means non-anamorphic. Why the hell couldn't the DVD specs have been listed in the review to avoid confusion?

Maybe the reviewer doesn't know the difference between letterboxed and anamorphic? I mean, he doesn't go into detail about that? Sam let us know please.

...and by the way who's "Tony Russel"? :D

hey,

have asked the reviewer of the dvd specs (the main review was written some time ago) to check for 16:9 enhancement. Since he isn't in possession of a wide tv, he skipped mentioning this but it's now due for confirmation. Believe the site received a promo disc.

Well, the guy who took the screenshot should be able to tell if it is anamorph or not as the window of any DVD software automatically adjusts to a DVD's aspect ratio.

When it arrives, you can give us a nice screengrab of Yuen Biao doubling in a fight. :D

I think the film maybe anamorphic but not the extras/menus.

It's the unremastered trailer, non-anamorphic extras/menus and new title card that's putting me off.

Can't say I really care about the first two things... and whilst I'd too prefer the original title card I think this is the best version we're gonna get unless a major dist shells out big cash.

It's the best unless a new print is found. Soul blade has to use a German one. I doubt the negatives exist or are useable so they have to rely on existing prints and chances are if a Chinese one exists, it'll have burnt-in theatrical subs.

Not nesseserily but it's possible. Does the opening sequence have any dialogue? If not, then it most likely won't have subtitles.
