THE worst film I have seen this year, I just found it a waste of time and energy from begining to end :( it was just to silly, complex and scattered that the film felt too disjointed and for me never worked ever. Clooney did not deserve an Oscar for this!

The film for me was also ruined more by the crowd, or to be more spesific a bunch off abouy 8 muslims who acted absolutly shocking from begining to end! screaming at the screen in many languages, joking about, talking, using mobile phones and being very racist to the film! Scum like this need shooting and its the closest I have ever come to just lashing out and smacking someone in the face while in the cinema, my lip was bleeding I was biting it so hard, if I had started anything I am sure I would be in jail, or hospital as there was 8 of them dickheads! I hope the cocksuckers die screaming.

Not at all, maybe you like people ruining your films. Many hate it with a vengence! you have some pratt with their mobile in the cinema and then come back and say good things about them! I can see why people shoot other people, sadly guns are not legal here.

I do :) or it should be instant inprisonment also, and beatings from the local police.

The fact is THEY ruined the film for me and I will never ever see the film the way it suposed to be seen in my life, as I will always be thinking of them dicks when I watch it.

And what does their religious belief have to do with all this? (Also wondering how you knew they were Muslims.) If they were Christians, I bet you wouldn't have said, "There were 8 Christians pissing me off."

I know they were muslims from the things they were saying (unless they were lying), it had nothing to do with race man so dont turn it into me being racist. I would have said Christians pissing me off if some people were shouting out christian comments all the time.

People seeing Racism where there is none, nothing new.

There religious beliefs had a lot to do with it anyway, as they were openly screaming racist comments, I guess its fine to take the piss out of your own  If I was saying thessew things to the screen I would have been locked up, they got away with it obviously,

It indeed hasn't, as Islam is no race. However, because you thought so, I still wonder why you say "Muslims did that" if according to your own words race has nothing to do with it.

I would have said Christians pissing me off if some people were shouting out christian comments all the time.
So what did they say?

People seeing Racism where there is none, nothing new.

People claiming not to be racist, nothing new either.

There religious beliefs had a lot to do with it anyway
Hmmm... anybody notice the contradiction here?

Well, I have absolutely no idea what they said to the screen, but I do notice that you always see yourself as the poor white guy oppressed in his own country, because he's sure he'd get arrested if he did certain things and yet Muslims can do ANYTHING and get away with it, too. Bla bla...

Kermode agreed with you.

He said it made no sense, not because people aren't intelligent enough but because it was badly made.

What the fuck does them being Muslim have to do with them being annoying? For Christ sake Romero.

Would you have said "8 shocking Christians" if they were white?
romerojpg wrote:Yeah I hate Muslims (acording to you) and all that bla, bla.
I don't believe you're racist no but you do seem to have a chip on your shoulder against people who aren't like you but crucially want to air that opinion.

I said MUSLIMS for a reason, as they were muslims! and they were acting racist shoot me fucking now. If they were white Christians I would have said that, if they were Chavs I would have said that, if they were women I would have said that. CALM DOWN, talk about seeing things that are not there.

Next time I see a black man in the street get the shit kicked out of him by some angry white skinhead twats I will just say it was a man who got kicked in by some other men, but that would be silly.

Romero, I mean nobody here forces me to read your comments, fair enough. However, I still want to express how sick I am reading how according to you, people who are different from you "deserve to be shot in the face".

You have the problem not me, I wanted them "shot in the face" becuase of the ignrant way they acted, never did I say "because they are Muslims"

The only thing I could see that they were "different" from me is becuase I act like people should in a cinema, they acted like idiots.
I have complained many times about disruptive fools in cinemas and always say what they are, look like, how they behave etc and noone has ever called me racist etc.. the 1st instance I mention Muslim and you go crazy, calm down man if I wanted to offend muslims I would, but I dont want to.

I appologise if you read my comments here as racist, but you are very wrong indeed as that is and never was my intent.

If they were Christian bible bashing people screaming at the screen when I went to see The Passion of the Christ, would I be racist saying a bunch of Christians ruined the film for me? I dont think so, others do I guess.

The same people who'd say: "Annoying Black man"
But wouldn't say: "Annoying white man"

No doubt.

Exactly, well said.

You're Muslim right LD?

This reminds me of events that happened at work on St. Paddy's day:

Someone took this photo of me :D -

Image

(which I sent around to everyone saying "Happy St. Patrick's days") and mixed it up with 4 important Sikh figures, they then forwarded it on.

I replied to said e-mail and it was CC'ed on to a colleague who is Sikh.

I didn't realise he was so strong and needless to say he was well pissed off. I apologised for forwarding it and the person who made the offence image had to apologise to him and everyone else (via e-mail).

Would you really want them shot in the face? I wouldn't want my worst enemy to be shot in the face, that's extreme.

I wasn't specifically talking about that issue in my last post here. I was talking about your attitude towards other people in general. Remarks like this here make no sense to me:
I can see why people shoot other people, sadly guns are not legal here.
How can you say that? On the one hand you're saying you should have the right to kill people by shooting them in the face, because they disturb your personal experience of a film, but on the other hand people defending their families in Iraq/Afghanistan for example are terrorist scum.
The only thing I could see that they were "different" from me is becuase I act like people should in a cinema, they acted like idiots.
Personally, I also hate such people and everytime I was so disturbed by them, I told them. Most times they'd stop, but there were also times when I was about to get into serious fights with them. So? Did I care if they were Muslims or whatever?
if I wanted to offend muslims I would, but I dont want to.
As otherwise you would get arrested as you mention above?
I appologise if you read my comments here as racist, but you are very wrong indeed as that is and never was my intent.
No need to apologise really. It's ok, as I don't regard you as a racist, but more as something like a misanthrope, only the way around. You hate every human thinking different than you and you have expressed that quite often on this forum. "They should be shot in the face!"

I tried explaining at the time but didn't manage to put it across very well.

It's very easy for people like Romero, Me and lots of other people here who have no (or little) religious convictions to spot where they're offending people as bad mouthing Muslim's and how they act or Christians and how they act is all the same.

I had no problem with those VERY anti-Christian cartoons which were posted a while back but I can see how many would have.

My point is that as none of offends me it can be hard to see why someone would.

Still animal cruelty really makes me angry which is kind of the same.

Yes, but that's not really what triggered my first post here. Had he said "8 white guys", I would have reacted the same.

Were the Muslims behaving in a racist way? Maybe that's why Romero considered it relevant. If not then colour isn't worth mentioning. But I get the feeling Romero hasn't made himself clear... or is being misunderstood.

Regarding gun-related violence: I don't want to shoot everyone in the face - just people I don't like. :D Seriously I hate violence, but you do need to be able to defend yourself with violence if necessary. I wouldn't take on 8 guys unless they gave you personally no choice or were disrespecting your girlfriend or something. If the cinema was packed no need for you to play hero, Romero, let the manager do his job by phoning the cops.

I did say they were being racist, it quite clear from my 1st words if you ask me.

Relevant, well they were muslims, what was I suposed to call them? I dont see the problem myself. If I had said 8 young lasses, or 8 young chavs? is that worse? no I am just giving you a small indication of who they were and the way they were acting, they were ridiculing all the musilims in the film and beleve me I am sure they were very offensive to any muslims in the audience.

They came in 5 minutes into the film and The 1st words out one of their mouths was Look " look theres my dad! dont kill me" but very loud and shouting!

Blown well out of proportion doesnt come close to this thread.
I NEVER Bad mouthed any muslims, I bad mouthed some dicks in the cinema who happened to be Muslims from what I could tell, I dont see any problem at all.

OK, see now referring to them as Muslims makes sense, because that had something to do with their behaviour. I think maybe if you'd said that in the first post LD wouldn't have jumped down your throat.

My goodness... most off topic thread ever. Congratulations guys.

Anyway, back to the film.

Syriana is a tense political thriller that highlights all types of individuals, from corporate leaders to Islam radicalists, and their contribution to the sensitive oil and gas situation in the Middle East. We have a ton of characters and each one plays a fundamental role. The stories are all nicely interwoven, with great use of 'cause and effect'. There is no finger pointing here - the film reveals flaws in the economy and Government system but does well to keep everything as "fictional" as possible (i.e. names, companies, countries are not mentioned).

It reminded me a lot of Traffic, in terms of execution. The on-time editing and closeup camerawork provide an intimate viewing experience.

4/5 from me.
