Woo hoo my local arthouse cinema are showing a "special screening" of this on the 24th of March. Why only one screening I don't know but at least:

A: I won't need to wait for the R1 DVD
B: It's going to be the 150 minute cut

It will also have a Q+A with the UK producer "Peter La Terriere"

They're cheekily bumping the ticket price from the usual £5.50 to £8 or £5.50 (from the usual £4.50) if you're a member. I used to be a member. I should renew it, you get 2 cinema tickets thrown in and £1 off all tickets for £21 a year. Making it really only £10.

I saw this evening as part of the AIFF, was quite good I thought. Typical Malick, dream-like setting, lotsa narration for a very barebones story, the actors are just set-pieces like everything else. Much much better than Days of Heaven IMO.

It was the 135min version. I felt it was perfect, it doesn't need to be any longer; but the extended cut should be on DVD to give people a choice (ditto for the longer cut of Thin Red Line), even though the 135min version is Malick's DC.

I should really see the Badlands, even fans of schlockly horror films highly recommend that one.

I heard that. Except in that case they did find people who could speak it, just that most of the Native American cast couldn't speak it originally. Very sad but true.

The same has happened in New Zealand but luckily not in Australia.

True that not many actually speak Maori, but it's far from dead. There's news programmes all in Maori everyday and even a national Maori govt. funded TV channel which has 60% of it's programming in Maori (although most of it has English subs since so many people complained that they couldn't understand it).

I dont think she is anything to do with Jewel mind you seems to be a rumor spreading over the net spread by the maker of bullshit IMDB, as they are from different countries, backgrounds, origins etc.. apart from the last name I see nothing similar.

But I am sure one of them will be interviewed and they will speak about it maybe I jabent seen anything to confirm the talk, yet
