Yeah I really like that one too.LD wrote:"RotlMG" had only One good scene in my opinion, which is right in the beginning when HE as a delivery boy imagines how he shoots down the whole office.
But I prefer the scene when the MatchGirl wakes up, grabs a gun and starts randomly shooting people everywhere. I nearly fell off my chair when that happened.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (3 out of 5)
I think Burton's a genius, but CB isn't his best work, by far. I really enjoyed watching the film, but the whole time I had the feeling that it could have been so much more, if given another year or so? More gothic, detailed sets. More realistic movement of the 3-D characters. And speaking of the characters, I think Victor was not well enough defined. He was too passive and needed some more umph. Who woul d have ever guessed that was the charismatic Johnny Depp voicing Victor, the wet noodle?

Yes, saw season 1 and am watching season 2 now. Season 1 is better, so far. Season 2 is dragging at the moment, with strange character motivations that aren't being explained . . . yet. Will have to see how much will be revealed to the lowly viewers as "truth," how much is just red herrings, and what could possibly just be bad writing in some cases.

Immortel (Ad Vitam) - 2.5/5
Aye it's watchable alright... peculiar visuals. With the exception of three characters, everything else was computer generated. The philosophical poetry is quite cerebral but at the same time, felt largely redundant. I wasn't a huge fan of the central story and the religious parallels. The film didn't really leave a lasting impact but I'm glad I managed to get this out of the way.
PS: The comics seem to have a more interesting premise. Not read them though.

Lost (Episode 3-4) - 5/5
The flashbacks are great and really give clues and insight into the characters.
So Kate is the wanted person, not the guy who stole the gun in Episode 3? In one episode Sayid is accused of being a terrorist - I dont think so, he's one of the few people who have done anything useful so far. I don't like the vacuous Shannon.

@Grim
The Fortune Star discs for Armour of God and Condor are very good IMO. The latter is the most impressive with great picture and 5.1 sound. The DTS is tinny, but the DD 5.1 rocks.
Final Destination 3
Probably not as good as the first 2 but I enjoyed it all the same. Very icky.

Valley of the Wolves - Iraq - 4/5
Really good entertaining action flick which focusses mainly of the Middle Easterners' feelings. So it is kinda propaganda-like. They simulated and acted out many true incidents where US troops have abused and killed Arabs, Kurdish and Turkish people in Iraq. For example do they enact the infamous incidents in Abu-Ghuraib-prison where that bitch Lynndie England and other bastards humiliated and killed prisoners. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynndie_England )
There is also a scene where US troops are waiting remotely from a Muslim marriage party. When the Muslims shoot with their guns and rifles into the air to celebrate the marriage (as it is custom in some parts of the Arabic world), the chief of the troops says, "OK, now they're terrorists! Attack!" They go to the marriage and want to arrest everybody, including the bride and the groom. They hit the people including the women. There is a scene where the bride is hit in the face with the rifle's butt. When a little boy is shot (by accident I think), the situation escalates and the troops and the men with the rifles start shooting at each other. The groom head-butts a soldier and is shot in the head. This is when the bride decides to become a suicide bomber to blow up the responsible soldiers.
It is the first film I have seen where Americans are excessively portrayed as evil monsters. No wonder the film is banned in the USA. But then again there have been so many Hollywood-films where so many people and nation's are portrayed as uber-evil.

Lost - S1 (Episodes 5-6): 5/5
Two more superb episodes :thumbleft: I cant remember if I saw Episode 6 on UK Channel 4 (I decided to just wait for the DVD fairly early on).
I think the Korean woman's husband was probably a gangster or some sort of killer ("I do whatever your father tells me")... hmm. How come she speaks English with a perfect US accent? Shouldn't she speak with a Korean accent?
I quite like Charlie, he's like a friendly cheeky chappie sort of person, even though I'm sure he is addicted to drugs

Muhammad: The Last Prophet : (PBUH) - 5 out of 5
At last I have seen this movie, and really really enjoyed it. Yes they had cut some things out, but it was designed for childrens in mind. But the animation was superb. Like The Message, they did not show Muhammad, Ali or even Hamza (which is really different from The Message). The whole piece fits together
I really wish this had an official dvd release, I'm afraid I had to get a copy from the islamic shop just to watch this movie.

The 1983 Cronenberg film ?

I'm intrigued, thanks EvaUnit.Lowlife cable TV operator Max Renn discovers a "snuff TV" broadcast called Videodrome. But Videodrome is more than a TV show - it's an experiment that uses regular TV transmissions to permanently alter the viewer's perceptions by giving them brain damage. Max is caught in the middle of the forces that created Videodrome and the forces that want to control it, his body itself turning into the ultimate weapon to fight them.

Memoirs of a Geisha - 3/5
I quite liked it, something I'd definately wouldn't mind seeing again (as long as I didn't have to pay for it). Ziyi still her very limited range though. Oh and Gong Li as Hatsumomo... PHWOAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111

Yes, apparently, that was made for Japanese TV!grim_tales wrote:Have you seen the extended version of Maniac Cop 1? I should give that another go I think
Those scenes were extraneous padding because the uncut film is only 85m - too short for a TV slot? An extra 8-9 mins plus adverts brings it up to nearer 2 hrs.
The original director's cut is better, but there's no 16:9 release AFAIK.
