I thought the HK vcd was quite poor, although the film is very good. Loved the meatheads! I wish Tony would lighten up though.

I only want a DTS track accompanying a good transfer.
you're probably aware that there is the Korean DVD of face/Off with DTS which sounds fantastic be only problem is that the picture is crap.

any news of when Tom Yum Goong will be Officially released on DVD?

Yup. There's also reportedly HK and Thai releases with fantastic sounding DTS but the transfers are rubbish.

BWAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAA...

...Ow wait you werent kidding!?

Ehmm... I guess it will probably be announced as soon as Brian White has finished his new score for it...

Ow... he doesnt work for HKL/PA anymore...
Hmm... in that case... expect it within a year or 3 or something.

Just download it for now, and hope someday someone will release a decent uncut subbed version. :)

No subs no sale for me. It's another Ong-bak  . I don't understand why??? Other Thai films get English subtitled HK DVDs.

Some may like to be confused for 90 minutes I don't. Unless the film has Donnie and Darko in it's title, oh or it's by David Lynch :D .

Hmm... well.. musical maestro Brian White has since moved on... so I guess they're just gonna give us the international version then, instead of also rescoring it. Ow... and I'm sure they'll think of a catchy 'western' title for it as well... cause obviously 'Tom Yum Goong' is just ridiculous.

What I want: Uncut, Subbed TYG, with hopefully some interviews and a making-off like the one on Ong-Bak's release.

What we're gonna get: Cut, International version of the well-know, thai box-office hit "Dragon's Flying Knee in the Shadow of the Drunken Thai Elephant, dubbed by the cast of Neighbours, plus on the 2nd bonus-disc, INTERVIEWS and OUTTAKES of the cast of neighbours while they're dubbing their lines. Awesome!

(Ow... and obviously it's going to have coverart done by a epilectic 7 year old who had spasms while photoshopping this together in one afternoon, on a Pentium 2 using PAINT.)

We should all get together and start our own Asian Movie distributing company, buying the rights to good movies, and making kick-ass DVD's. We'll promise the asian filmmakers to NOT alter their movies in ANY way, so they'll be more happy to co-operate with us.

Either that, or we could shoot Harvey.

So how much do rights to films cost? I mean if we open a label altogether and we split the costs... :D

:D Thats funny but change the record Yi :)
I mean the PA releases of Bang Rajan, Ong Bak and Brotherhood are all uncut/unaltered (aside from Ong Bak having a new score). "The Warrior" is just an English translation of "Musa" (I think).

You suffering some partial amnesia?

I just got the R2 as it was cheap and the only copy of Ong Bak I have is a boot :D
It's not uncut I believe. Bey mentions a couple of missing scenes, like the first encounter between Tony Jaa and the skank with the horrible voice, or with George... I forgot, or the 3 of them together in a supermarket.

And obviously, the soundtrack has been fucked up. Some people seem to like the new soundtrack but I really missed the old one, which was classic IMHO. Especially in the market-chase scene.
For 7 pounds, it's still a decent buy though. The making-off is worth the money alone. It's just a shame they fucked up the main feature with the cuts and the new soundtrack. Could have been the best Ong-bak release.

Eva, I know Yi said that, but LostDragon said Bey was possibly talking about footage that was shot, but never used in the movie. As far as I can see footage wise the film on the PA DVD was identical to the Thai version. :)
The PA DVD is 104 mins long - same as the Thai DVD so is not missing anything.

I'm sure HKL have said themselves only the soundtrack has been altered.

I'm betting they'll go with Tom Yum Goong they went with Ong-bak (what's on of those?) and most HKL cover art is very good.
Grim's right move on and if you don't want to, do so at the HKL forums simply because it's more likely to get to the right people.

To be fair how many decent Dutch martial arts labels are there? (I don't know actually but I doubt they come close to HKL).

I worked it out a while ago and 2/3 of PA releases have been altered in some way. I think it's 8 altered and 4 not or was it the other way around?
"The Warrior" is just an English translation of "Musa" (I think).
Yes that's correct.
