Post by BiscLimpkit »

... and is out this Friday.

RAWK!

Now I need to pull my fingers out and watch the director's cut of the original.

Who's gonna watch it this weekend?

The first Underworld was complete junk, as a film and as a take on the vampire/werewolf mythologies. (It was cinematic gold compared to the Matrix sequels though.)

The plot of the 2nd one sounds like a fan fiction made into a film.

+ Me.

Bruce like the original too.

It was a bit silly how the Vampires had to use guns otherwise they'd be ripped to shreds by the superior Lycans but otherwise I enjoyed it as popcorn fodder.

and the millions of others which will help it be a massive hit and pribibly make its budget back in its 1st weekend alone, then part 3 will be out summer 2007 apparently.

Sadly Kate doesnt get em out :( but she gets down and dirty in bad, but we dont see anything really.

It's ok I don't mind going with you and maybe Brad also. Could discuss the underlying themes and messages afterwards. Perhaps it will be another social commentary, just like the prequel...

Surprising to see a mainstream fantasy-action film get an '18' these days. Must be pretty damn strong in the gore department. The BBFC give out '15's like nobody's business...

I reckon someone probably headbutted a woman in the film, and called her a c**t.

That's what it takes to get an 18 these days. Either that or unsimulated porking.

OR...!!! All of the above at the same time (which I'm hoping). Man can't wait tbh.

PS: j/k btw.

Aye just watched it. IMO it is not better than the first, but is more or less the same. It was still great to watch. The film is a lot gorier - rightfully earning that 18 classification and it's good to see mindless violence on our screens once more.

However the film is not as gothic as the original, namely because the events take place in rural enviornments so the whole urban feel is lost.

I'd urge you to watch the original film (preferably the director's cut) just before you watch Underworld: Evolution, even if have seen it before.

The story delves deep into the whole mythology, which is fascinating, but is clumsily narrated. There are references to the first film so you'll be lost because the flashbacks aren't particularly helpful. Luckily I watched the prequel this morning so I managed to follow Evolution ok.

Overall, sure it was great fun to watch but it feels more like an extension of the first film - as opposed to an improvement.

Slightly different as the setting is a different place, but on the whole its as good as the origanal, and in many way blows it away. The CGI is amazing and the effects on the whole are superb and the gore is totally fantastic as people are ripped to shreds. I will have to review it, but for now I dont see how anyone could not like it if they like the 1st film. I thought some parts in the trailer looked dodgy, like the big bad flying vampire guy Markus, but on screen he was stunning! really effecive at killing everyone around him.
