I've only seen Arahan so far.

Very good movie, some sort of Korean Shaolin Soccer mixed with Volcano High.

Lots of humor, lots of action, a lovely leading lady, a clueless hero, no plot whatsoever.... Perfect movie

Memories of Murder is one of the single greatest Korean films )and films from anywhere), its probibly in my top few films of last year and basicaly its just an amazing film and has to be seen by everyone, and pretty much every single other person I know that has seen it adored it too, so its not just me. BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!

Thanks Romero, CDWow have the Hong Kong disc, do you know if it is any good? Can't seem to find the Koren DVD, it is apparently out of print.

The korean dvd isnt at CDWOW but from what I have read the HK dvd is fine, the OOP korean L.E. is hard to get and costs a lot, so the HK dvd is good enuff for most people

you may like it so much you may try to get the Korean L.E. its that good!

for that price you cannot go wrong as even if you dont like it you can easy get rid of it for as much as you paid.

Memories of Murder didn't work for me but I'm in the minority. The humour was very out of place and stupid at times.

The serious elements were fantastic and powerful but the humour ruined the film. Should a film about brutal rape, murder and a serial killer at that have this much humour? I think not.

I wouldn't be surprised if the real families were angry about this.

There has to be better ways to show incompetent cops without using so much humour. But as I said I'm in the minority everyone else loved it (following the sheep maybe/maybe not). There is a few films I think are okay to average that everyone else seems to love (Drunken Master 2 and Joint Security Area to name two).

It's a real shame as the film had lots of potential as I said the serious scenes were very good.

I'm sure the cheap as chips (sub £6) HK DVD is fine - anamorphic, DTS, a few extras. What more could you ask for at that price?

the Humor and funny bits in the film made me laff so hard I nearly threw up, and its the way Korean films are, they mix comedy and sickness very well indeed, thats why this film was a massive hit in Korea and everywhere else.

Endless lists of real life films mix sick humor with serious subjects, and it doesnt make them any lesser films at all. :duh:

I loved a one or two of the jokes (one about a pair of trainers in particular) but most were lazy IMO.

Arahan is one of the very few Korean movies I can recommend.I didn't really liked the finale with all the sloooow mo and flying, but overall, it's very entertaining flick

Fighter in the wind was your typical korean movie - good looking style-over-substance film.It reminded me of an old Holywood movie Best of the Best.Beautifully shot training sequences and average fighting scenes

( As for Memories of murder , I wasn't impessed at all.It had its good moments, but that's about it

Korean movies that I really liked and can recommend( out of almost 30) are:

OldBoy
The Isle
Arahan

Good job we are all very different as boy people have no taste

HK films are shit at the moment, in fact most countries are, Korea is about the only place I can find consistent brilliant films at the mo. :1eye:

Watched MEMORIES OF MURDER the other night and thought it was fantastic, possibly the best Korean film I have seen so far. I did prefer it to OLD BOY which I managed to see at the cinema last Saturday.

The quality of the Hong Kong DVD was excellent, definately the best transfer I have seen on a Hong Kong disc so far. It looked faultless when played through my projector.
