* The cuts were waived right?
* It's only DH3 which is still cut right?

I already have it. The only one of the trilogy that's a keeper IMO. DH2 is a cash in and I found DH3 average.

Nope it was never cut.

Die Hard 2 was released as two different versions, a 15 and an 18 on VHS, but I think its only ever been released as the 18 version on DVD. The 18 version restored some violence, the most obvious of which is the icicle-in-the-eye scene.

Die Hard 3 is cut on all regions, but less so on the US version, which is why I own the R1 trilogy box set.

DH3 are pre-release cuts rights? So not cuts in the sense most people think of them.

DH3 was cut twice: once by the MPAA (the chain-whipping scene) and then again by the BBFC (multiple cuts for violence and language). No uncut print available.

DH2 was also cut twice: again by the MPAA (bloodspurts and gory violence) and then by the BBFC (multiple cuts for violence and language); the '18' DVD restores the BBFC cuts, but is the R-rated version. No uncut print has ever been released that I know of.

Good explanation Mark.

It pisses me off how the MPAA effectively (often) dictates what cut the rest of the world gets. It's possible the MPAA cuts the BBFC wouldn't have minded.

So the R1's are the best way to go then, even if some of the films are *uncut but slightly cut* if you see what I mean?
BTW Mark, thanks for the explanation. I knew about DHWAV, but didnt know Die Hard 2 was ever cut.

The R1 box set has been the way to go since it's release. As I only think DH is a keeper I got the UK R2 SE (in a trade).

r1 is the way to go if you want all 3 ( i do) but if you only want the first and don't have it £3.99 is a bargain imo (which was why i posted it)
