Japanese phrase help!

Post by grim_tales »

Silly question but how do you say these things in Japanese? I'd like to send a card to my friend and write in either Japanese or Romaji. :D

1. Merry Chrsitmas (just not sure how to spell it)
2. Best Wishes (or something like that)
3. Happy new Year

Are there friendly, informal ways of saying those? I know most of the time you wont hear a Japanese person say "sayanora" for goodbye" but just "ja ne" (see ya later) for example. "O-ha" is also used for greeting.

Thanks Ice, I've done it - didnt think to use katakana though - I used hiragana (phonetically) for Merry Chrsitmas and Best Wishes but I'm sure Izumi will understand it :)

:D Not really, she was someone staying at a family friends' house rather than a penpal, we have been spending quite a bit of time together though, watching DVDs and stuff. :)
Think she has a b/f tho, and I havent seen her recently.
