OK, now I'm even more confused than before. When I checked my config.php, I found out that somehow the ['dbuname'] and the ['dbpass'] had totally strange names with upper and lower case characters. Does PostNuke do this upon upgrade or the re-install? I set it back to the correct username and password, but then I got that PostNuke message:
I then changed the $pnconfig['encoded'] in config.php from 1 to 0 and I got the old:Problem in Database Connection
That can't be! What is happening here? LOL!Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /export/home/thelostd/www/modules/Xanthia/pnuserapi.php on line 584

Weeell, I give up
But before I go - did you check to see if there were any "upgrade" scripts to be run when upgrading from .75 to .761? Usually they tweak some database tables or whatnot between upgrades...
Though - personally I'd go with the same release as your DB was instead of trying to get a new release to work just yet...

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

i still think your database connection details are wrong. but I cant really talk you through it much further, the best i can offer is if you are still stuck on friday evening or saturday daytime then i could be around on msn or aim and check through your database details with you. I am pretty confident I can find a solution one way or another if i look at it directly

well so you know my solution at the will be to completly recreate your site on a fresh install on a different server, make sure all your data is uncorrupted then help you get a working version back on your server... the reason being at the moment you are working with 2 unknown elements, the data and the site structure, either of which could be the problem, we would need to narrow it down to one of them....

Right. You know, I guess this would be the best. It sure takes some effort to re-insert all the reviews into the site, but in the end it should be less work than what we are experiencing right now.
So can you recommend any good servers who support PHP and MySQL? I'm currently at Your-Site.com and they're not really expensive.
Will look a bit around.

you want to move hosts?? i was just planning on lending you the space to do the testing so that it cost you nothing if thats what you mean.
if you are actually after another host then im sure the guys will have various suggestions, Gojenson, any ideas?? the place this site is hosted is proving great for support and pretty cheap, but there are many good deals out there.

Thanks for your kind offer. I already sent out my cancellation and just signed with a German company. They seem to be alright. Read good stuff about them.
€1,49 per month for:
- 120 MB
- 200 subdomains
- 25 FTP accounts
- 1 MySQL database
- DNS Wildcards (whatever that is)
- 1 GB traffic (every additional GB costs €1,59)

Oh, I know nothing of hosting anymore I'm afraid... not since getting my own server on a dual 100Mps connection
Anyways, dragon, my suggestion wasn't that you stick with the "old" release but that you upload the old one, and once that get's working you can upgrade. But I must say, postNuke REALLY doesn't give any good error messaging

Well, I signed up with another company, but signing up with them turned out really complicated. They sent me a contract which I have to fill out and send back as well.
As soon as I have my new webspace, I'll let you know. Maybe we can find a way how to install PostNuke .761 with my current database backup.
