Not nearly as aesthetically wonderful... in fact it's a crap cover!

Very nice set indeed and glad I got one

My copper case is no where near as greasy as Peggy's is..... maybe he got a little too excited when he saw it ;)

How do the 3 versions differ? Packaging aside.

Well ignoring the packaging...

...I'm happy with the old release that includes DTS (which is not in any of the newer releases).

Considering the extras aren't subtitled, I'm not too bothered.

I'll probably re-buy the Tartan Region 2 for subbed extras and probably sell my current Korean Region 3 since the Tartan release will have DTS.

It's nice that the short film is subbed in English on the UE, but no doubt I will buy the Tartan SE when that's out for the subbed extras

Them are finger marks on the box, but its gonna go back as my case is ruined! its covered completly in greasy shit it comes off as brown shit on everything and I have to wash my hands all the time after picking it up! basdically I think they forgot to spray the last coating of sealer or something as its just coming off everywhere and its basically shit! them finger marks are acctuall under the greasy coating I think, so they aint even mine! its covered completly in greasy shit, where you see the finger marks is where is come off! and no way it wipes off either, it would ruin the box :(

I had the old Old Boy set but so,md on Ebay for 28 quid :)

The 3 version differr in that the Ultimate set has most extras, a soundtrack cd and better picture and sound, and stunning packiging too :) pity mines messed up! :(

How much better AV?

Thanks btw.

What's the point in the remastered edition? A cheaper alternative to the Ultimate edition?

I guess yes its just the 2 dvds from the Ultimae in the Final edition :) but the screen grabs are different from what I have seen, but really not THAT different, I found the picture and sound on the 1st release of OB only ok, in fact disapointing :(

So in your opinion it's better this time?

I'm waiting for the Tartan DVD personally. Gratuitous violence doesn't really appeal I could be wrong but I get the feeling this has that.

Theres barley no violcnce in it, dont beleve the hype at all, it is total bollocks! its far from the blood bath people are saying it is, but the stuff there is in it is not gratuitous as its part of some big plot points.

and I have no idea how the picture is as I aint put the dvds on yet, and may never as I dont want the tin I have as its too greasy and ruined : I want a replacement, but seriously fdont think thats possable as its so rare :(

Aye the people who are saying Oldboy is uber violent are the same who are quite new into the Asian movie scene...

...I'd say yeah, it's "18" rated material but not nearly as violent as some people make it out to be...

I've definately seen worse.

Watching this at the EIFF was hilarious, seeing the audience cringe during certain scenes whilst I laughed my head off lol.

Ohh it has some nasty stuff I guess, but I didnt cringe in pain, in fact the big last gore piece just made me shake my head in disbelief at how stupid the plot had got! :(

I agree now that is one nasty film. See when the credits rolled... that noise you hear... ugh man, made me feel depressed.

Same goes for The Isle... that is one disturbingly disturbing film.
