So having watched it now, what can i say... where they right or where they wrong....
I can see why people didn't like it, but it didn't continue the formula, scary girl comes after you from the tv. Instead the movie deals with the virus aspect of it and rebirth. I Have to say i like this movie more than Ringu 2. This story continue on what was Ringu. I can appreciate why it has been blasted in the past and why some people don't think of it as part of the Ring movies. But in its defence this movie is very good. The story is we are introduced us to Mitsuo Ando (Koichi Sato), a forensics doctor who gets wrapped up with the "Ring curse" when his the body of an old friend, Ryuji Takayama (Hiroyuki Sanada, reprising his character from Ringu), makes its way onto his autopsy table. Each day the doctor wakes up and wants to kill himself because of the past, but since seeing his friend Ryuji on the table, he wants to find out why this has happened. Naturally no one believes the tape curse, so they try to find out what is happening in a scienfitic way. They see a strain of a virus similar to smallpox, which was around when Sadako died.
Sadako Yamamura is different in this movie, towards the end, you will see how different, i'm not going to spoil it, but in this movie, she is not the creepy girl, you say in Ringu, instead she is a horny person, which really threw me on that scene. You know the doctor is going to watch the video, so that not a spoiler, however after, he see things from Sadako point of view, how she died, then it jumps back to his place, and he see Sadako next to her, she jumps on him all naked (you don't see any T&A
The DVD itself, the print is very clean (not surprising as it released by Dreamworks
I would recommend this movie, but that just me.....
