Update:

Bad news for fans of the korean thriller "The Last Witness".

One plus One (french distributor) have recently announced that their DVD edition will not feature any subs.
There will only be french and english (!) dubs.

In terms of video quality:
It looks like the movie will be cropped to 16/9 (just like the korean edition).
The only worthy release so far is the Hong-Kong edition (cinemascope 2.35).

News:

Nihon TV have recently shown a movie adaptation of the "Grave of the Fireflies".

We can expect a review and a DVD release soon.
You will find a few pics from the movie version below:

Hmm sorry for being pessimistic but I doubt that this will be as good as the Ghibli version. Depends on how much melodrama is milked.

But I dunno, could be good.

It really pisses me off how Anime is treated.

It should be 5.1 original language + 5.1 dub with the relevant subs ALWAYS. There is a place for a dub on anime but NOT the sole language.

Whose going to use the English dub? I can't see many English speakers purchasing the French DVD.

I think it is... but I don't know anything about Anime.

IGN have written a small article about the movie adaptation (more like a paragraph):

It's a Ghibli but not a Miyazaki. It is a superb title though, one of the strongest Ghiblis that I've seen.

Grave of the Fireflies was directed by Isao Takahata, who is one of the greatest animation filmmakers next to Miyazaki, IMO. The film is indeed wonderful.

News:

The Cinémasie team have uploaded an interview with Fortune Star manager, Peter Poon:

http://www.cinemasie.com/fr/fiche/dossier/229/

The interview is 100% english.
It won't tell you anything you don't already know, but it's nice to hear from the people who make the coasters.
:D

EDIT:

The HKCinemagic team have uploaded a very nice interview with Anthony Wong Chau-Sang:

News:

Cinémasie have uploaded the first part of a two-part video interview with Richie Ren ("Fly me to Polaris", "Breaking News").
The interview is a realmedia streaming video in english with french subtitles.
The interview is mainly focused on Breaking News:

http://www.cinemasie.com/fr/fiche/dossier/235/

EDIT:
As I'm watching it I realize that Richie switches to cantonese near the end of the interview. His english is not so good.
But the first fifteen minutes are quite interesting.

The interview is 100% english.
Top interview cheers. It's finally answered why they only release box sets.

OMG:

Probably end of next year, or at latest, beginning of 2007, we will be releasing the Bruce Lee titles again, with a quality improved of 40 to 50% compared to what we have already done now with our restoration. I saw the test for one of the Bruce Lee movies, it's amazing, it looks like a new film.

Thanks, it's too bad we only have 3 french-speaking members on this board. :D
Which means I'm constantly posting information that's useless to 97% of the BnB members.
