I haven't seen director Yamazaki's (Returner, 2002; Space Battleship Yamato, 2010) most popular films - Eternal Zero seemed like propaganda crap (though some say it isn't) and the Always series looked like sentimental crap - but I gotta say this new film looks a bit intriguing. Based on early 1990's manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki and to be released in two parts ala Death Note. Shôta Sometani, Ai Hashimoto (I like her), Kazuki Kitamura, Eri Fukatsu, Tadanobu Asano, Jun Kunimura and Hirofumi Arai star.
I remember when Takashi Shimizu was going to direct an English language version of this for New Line Cinema. However this version turns out, it'll probably be better than what we'd have gotten from that.
