lounge genre is so vast, amazon has a huge selection of lounge, i download lounge cds and just take out the files i like, which is more funky house, acid jazz, nujazz.

any genre of music can be in lounge compliations

here for a example http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 7?v=glance

Is it mellow, slow and peaceful music, to help you relax?

Jazz and Blues would probably be two sub-genres.

Thanks for the help, nenmaster...

Brad: I have no idea, man. She just mentioned it today after I had asked her what she would like for her birthday. When she said 'lounge-cd' I just went 'WTF is a lounge CD?' She also didnt quite know, but she wanted something which would be nice in the background and relaxed etc... so that didnt help me much at all... :?
Hopefully I'll find some mega 4 disc mixed collection or something... although I doubt it.

Man, try to get any volume of "Buddha Bar" cough*emule*cough. Let her have a quick listen to it and if she likes it, then it's cool. If not, then she honestly has a different understanding of what lounge music is.

You see, it depends on where you have been in the world. In HK in the hotel lounge (lobby), they had really relaxing and calm music playing with a Chinese twist to it.
In Tunis I remember that they were playing that one song from "All About Lily Chou-chou", which also plays in "Kill Bill".

all depends what genre of music you really like, i like uplifting music, those slow things that are mostly in some albums doesnt do it for me.

if you have access to newsgroups check out alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.lounge

Thanks guys. Anyway, I was in amsterdam last friday, looking for a good lounge cd but they had way too many choices, and the birthdaygirl came in and said the new madonna cd (yuck) would be cool too, so instead of bitching about what a fucking ugly worthless piece of shite madonna is, I kept my mouth shut, counted my blessings, and immediately handed over the cash to the store and gave her the cd. Birthdaygirl happy, madonna happy, me not having to think about buying a good birthdaygift, so me happy as well :D

Lounge music the chilled out jazzy and better version of elevator music :D

Just but her Nouvelle Vagues album. Its an album full of loungy covers of popular songs like Teenage Kicks, Love Will Tear Us Apart. You will probably recognise a lot of the songs from TV ads.
