More Remakes.......

Now...I have been reading over the past week or so a nuber of unnerving and , to be honest, downright F***ing ludicrous ideas to remake stellar movies...

The final nail in the coffin was the news of DAY OF THE DEAD being remade and now ROBOCOP....also THE WILD BUNCH

Now, I am ALL for remaking crap movie (Robocop 3 would be a good example)...but this is just getting out of hand.....

So, fo r this thread, PLEASE list any remakes that you haev heard WILL be made...I am interested to see how many OTHER classics are gonna get Butt******.......

Night of the Livng Dead (in 3-D no less!!!)
Evil Dead

OH, and apart from KING KONG, does anyone here think that they will IMPROVE on the original...or even equal it???

Why the fuck is Predator being remade? Whats the point?

Next The Terminator will get a remake with Vin Diesel/The Rock as the Terminator and Jessica Simpson as Sarah Connor

Funny you should mention that.

They are making a series on US tv called SARAH CHRONICLES (or something similar) which will tell teh story of Sarah Conner from the end of Terminator 1...Seems John Connor will be a fixture in it too...

Oh...and Apparently JOHN MCTIERNAN has been offered PREDATOR directors chair...

Bring them all on. I cannot wait to see what they do, as long as they are good films I dont give a shit if they are remakes or not!

Dawn of the Dead remake was the best film of last year by a mile, so hopefully others may be cracking too.

They may be "good" films Romero but I honestly cant see the bloody point, particular as films like Predator and Robocop are less than 20 years old. I can see all the satire being removed from the Robo remake. :x

and probably all the violence removed too!!!!!!

I actually agree with Romero...If they ARE good movies I will happily sit through them.......

Problem is that they are usually NOT good movies....Ont he rare chance they are (I liked DAWN remake too) they are 'reimaginings' that could EASILY have been called something else rather than a remake...

I ALSO know that we will always have the originals to watch, even if the new ones royally SUCK.....

For jeez sake though START REMAKING CRAP MOVIES instead of trying to redo perfectly good movies first!!..I can think of 100000's of movies that DESERVE to be remade as they are CRAP!!!

and why dont they just make a SEQUEL instead of a remake?....I dont understand when they take a movie name and throw away most of the story to make something similar....

That's true. Eg Carpenter's The Thing and Cronenberg's The Fly. Both are phenomenal films that shit all over the original films, but are also re-imaginings.

Yeah you have just named teh two movies that are most used as EVIDENCE that a remake CAN be good..if they take the original and IMPROVE it...

Lots of remakes are ok to sit through, but they dont hold a candle to the original..Hence they are UNNECESSARY.....

Still would LOVE to be surprised by one again....

It was a dumbed down take for MTV audiences that didn't make any sense.

Not a patch on the George Romero's original.

Yeah it wasnt teh BEST movie..

But it WAS an entertaingin waste of 90 mins or so...Which is the point....As long as they are enjoyable, I am willing to forget (for about 90 mins) the fact that they lied when they said they were remaking DAWN..When reallly they just kept the mall and made a new story..........

Which was ok coz it turned out ok.....

Amen brother. The Dawn "remake" was utter bollocks. But it's existance was necessary, without it's success Universal wouldn't have part-funded Romero's Land of the Dead.

Nahh Land wasnt great, but I still love the other Romero films and his work and themes ahve made a big impact on my life and film watching.

Snyder hasnt done much yet to convince me he isnt a one trick pont so until his next film time will tell (his next film looks very odd!)

but I will never change my name, I have had it for maybe 6 years online so love me or hate me people at least know who I am.

I think a warriors remake could really be amazing if done well, I just feel a bit odd Tony is doing it as he is getting insane in his directing and they are edited to hell latley.
