Caps-a-holic have done their comparison, and while their screenshots obviously look better than salty's imo we're still seeing some of the significant drawbacks in the transfer that were evident in salty's grabs: Chiefly it's soft as hell (some shots looks downright blurry in comparison to the crappy old BD release), contrast is blown up and the framing is a little cropped. The colour timing and saturation is far superior to the old release though.

Agree with everything you say, except regarding the garish colour timing, which I don't like on the new transfer.
I would hardly call the colours garish! In general the colour timing is much more naturalistic in the new transfer, colours just "pop" more because the image is more contrasty. If you want to see something closer to a garish boosting of colours then look at this grab. Bruce just looks more tanned in the new transfer, which imo is in line with the classic stills we've all seen over the years - plus the old transfer is overly-bright and that always affects the colour saturation negatively.
I think the new transfer is likely the more accurate one and how the film actually looks, you can see the real grain structure. The previous one looks has colours that look more natural, and it's also compressed horribly.

Agree.
Look at this. More natural skin tones, less 'waxy' and more skin detail, less 'monotone' looking palette (the old one makes Lee look like his face was painted in 'skin colour'), and no jaggies on the collar http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleic ... #vergleich
Only thing that bothers me a tiny bit is the slight cropping. I can live with that with superior picture + HD audio (didn't buy first time round because of the standard DD 5.1 soundtrack)
