I love this transfer. For years, I've only seen the 4:3 video tape. Some years ago, we bought a special set (which I believe uses the UE transfers), which was a lot better, obviously, but this Blu-Ray is pretty good.

Off-Topic:
I'm sorry if I did this wrong the first time. The forum's e-mail doesn't work. I understand that it might've looked like a spam-post, but it was, as you can see, a comparison to the older transfers. Is there anyway I can contact the forum administrator? Thank You.

oops, sorry, my bad. I took a quick look and thought it was just a quote with no comment or anything, so I assumed it was a spam bot (we get a lot of them). I will open your previous account, too, so you can use it if you want (or you can use this new account). If you want to make this post with your original account, feel free to do so.

Sorry again for the hassle.

Hmm, at least they've improved upon the rubbish framing of the 'Ultimate edition', but still not sure it's correct.

The BD framing is pretty much correct on THREE sides but loses a sliver off the bottom. Not enough to get too upset about... but still.

The image is overall superior to DVD incarnations... though black crush is evident.

There's been reports of signifcant DNR application (which you can't really see on these caps) and opinion on the transfer has generally been quite negative.

The new BD doesn't look too bad IMO. Yes I see DNR but I also see some detail too. We need to see larger captures to say for sure but it's certainly not Predator fuck-up.

I'll just be getting Tomorrow Never Dies BD come February when it's released though. For me there are too many to pick up and the other few I own, I am perfectly happy with the DVDs. I've got Casino Royale (original release) and will be getting Skyfall though.

All of the Bond films will be getting individual releases when Skyfall is released in March. I'll be picking up the nine I don't have (that are currently US store exclusives) to satisy the completist in me. I figure it's not worth breaking up the canon just because Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die are pants. ;)

EDIT: the UK date for the back catalogues is Feb 18th.

Yes, Goldeneye suffers from DNR, but it's a massive improvement on the DVDs. Just think how amazing it could have looked, however... We still have no idea what's on the UK steelbook's mystery second disc(?).

Brad, the new UK BD of Casino Royale is fully uncut and cheapish - in case you care. It has a '15' certificate to distinguish from the cut release.

Thanks Mark, I'll be picking up TND, OHMSS, Goldeneye and YOLT but may keep the other R1 DVDs I have (as theyre slimpacks so save space).

Yeah I'd get it, if I wasn't happy with my R1 DVD. It's the only other one I would get though. I didn't know it had a second disc, I doubt it's much. For the most part the Ultimate Edition DVDs are already in good nick.

Thanks but I'm happy with the UK cut. If I'd owned the US one, I'd have already upgraded.

Is that the one part of the box set? Or is the Deluxe edition also uncut?

Both the anniversary box set and the individual 2012 reissue contain the uncut '15' cert version.

The 2007 and deluxe editions were censored.
