The Descent - 4/5
It was soo nice to see this on dvd. The first time i saw it from a divx movie from some guy recording it in the theater, and i still really enjoyed it. So nice to see a quality horror film these days. Neil Marshall is awesome. Dog soldiers is so much fun no matter how many times you've seen it, and The Descent confirms his talent. Looking forward to his next project!
Their names are Mana and Kana, that's all i know

The Killer Snakes (Shaw Bros, 1974) - 2.5-3/5
Disturbing thriller that gets exploitative at times but its' also an interesting watch even if its not an easy view, head and shoulders above Kiss of Death (1974).
The various scenes of cruelty to snakes and women certainly aren't easy viewing and I couldn't decide whether to sympathise or be repulsed by the central character:
What he saw as a child in the flashback scenes obviously affected him. Why does he kill the girl he fancies?
I loved the dark irony at the end of:
The young man gets bitten to death by all the snakes but why would they be still alive after getting badly burmt?

Layer Cake - 5/5
Got this cheap in buy 3 for 20 deals and got to say am glad i got this movie. Alot of people said this wasn't as good as Snatch or Lock Stock, but it's a completely different movie and watching as it is, it is bloody excellent. I loved the movie so much. Although i feel Sierra has a very small part, in fact i should say, she only had a guest appearance in the movie. The whole movie is stylish, the direction is good, impressive for a first time director. The Cast is all good, especially Daniel Craig. I watched this movie to see what he is like, can he be a new Bond, and since watching this, i feel, yes he can. He has something about him in this movie, which can lead to a darker James Bond. Overall an excellent movie.
Phantasm II 4/5
Just watched this now, and it is a great follow up to Phantasm. I got the Anchor Bay boxset and was impressive by the a/v on it. 5/5 for that. As for the film, more of the same as with the original Phantasm, but on a larger scale. You can see Dan the director was blessed with some money and it shows on Screen.
. The death scenes are pretty good, especially the Tall Man and one of the care-taker with a sphere in his mouth. I've noticed that this was not the uncut/workprint version because the negative was not found, this is a shame, but to be honest, when you watch the movie for the 1st time, like me, you would not have noticed anything. Overall a great horror movie from a classic age of horror.

Phastasm III - 3/5 - May Contain Spoilers
Arrragh what happened, this is an average horror film, some good bits and some bad bits. From watching Phastasm II yesterday i thought i was in for a real treat. Yes they have brought back Michael Baldwin to play the lead character Mike. He was in the first movie, but not in the 2nd. They have explored more regarding the Tall Man and the Sphere, however some bits of it has getting ridicous now. Each Sphere is not an evil entity which murders you, but the brains of the corpses. Mike brother comes back for this one and he is a sphere, who want to protect his little brother, so why does all the other sphere have to kill people???? Again we have Reggie trying to seduce another female, which the dream sequence was funny. We are introduced to two characters, Rocky (A black woman who is from the army) and a little boy Tim. One thing that made me think was the little kid killing people with guns. Of course i have seen this with Battle Royale, but watching it here, shocked me even more, i don't know why.
The storyline arc back to 1 and 2, which is pretty good. It explains more about why the Tall Man did certains things in number 1, especially around the Reggie Ice Cream van. The ending was pretty good, an army of sphere, but i just didn't like the zombie bits, i felt this was not turn to Phastasm. If they removed this, the movie would have been good, also having the sphere with eyes and brain was silly, i liked it when it was done in 1 and 2, silent yet deadly. Overall an average film to watch.

Ray
Ray - 4.5/5
Excellent film, that I wasnt sure I was going to like (not used to biopics) but its a very good, interesting film.
Jamie Foxx is bloody outstanding in the lead role, I'm not sure but I think Ray Charles gave his blessing for the film to be made and said he liked the portrayal? (I may be wrong on that bit).
Its' also quite heartwrenching at times as we see Ray battle addiction to heroin and being on the road all the time away from his family.
The music is terriffic also - classics like What'd I Say, Unchain My Heart, Georgia on My Mind, I Got A Woman and Hit The Road Jack are all tops
I don't understand the flashbacks that seem to indicate Ray is scared of water? (In one scene he's packing his bag and suddenlly its full of water). How did falling in the bath as a kid make him go blind?
EDIT: Its OK, I understand now

Final Destination II - 3/5
A friend of mine finally talked me into watching this. Pretty much on par with the first one. Still alittle too chick-flick-horror-ish for my taste, but still entertaining and enjoyable. Gets extra points for the very well done opening car accident sequence, and the ending.
I'm happy to post some more pics if people want to see them

Phantasm IV: Oblivion - 3.5/5
Phantasm comes to a close or does it??? When the movie ended, i was like WTF?????? The story is a better story than 3, but does not come up close to number 2. For some reason i really enjoyed number 2 and actually enjoyed this movie. There was some cool scenes like the hotel scene with the sphere on the girl. If you don't know what i am talking you will do when you watch this.
Bad points to the movie, well they totally missed out Tim from Number 3, nothing is mentioned about him, just Reggie. Also the ending should be explained more as well, so what is happening, what is going to happen.
Good Points to the movie, well the sphere are back to being silent yet deadly. Better In my opinion that the crappy one in 3. Also credit to the director Don Coscarelli, he had filmed scenes of number 1 to go into number 4. So there is footage from 1979 that was needed for this film, which was made around 1998. That is a feat in itself and greatly increases the score of this film. The lead characters are back Reggie and Mike and even his older brother Jody.
More is explained about the Tall Man, and you do see a gentle version of him in this one, when it explains the story behind it.
The good point outweigh the bad points and it is a good film whch i did enjoyed. So overall i liked the Phantasm series they are very cool. If they could make Phantasm End to finish it, i would be happy

Bang Rajan
Just been listening to the Bang Rajan commentary and according to Bey, the girl who played E Sa was only 15 when the film was shot
I feel so dirty now, I said she was very cute and hot in her interview
