Don't know if anyone watches X Factor or not...
I wonder if one of the contestants on Saturday (Maria, who is a black woman) should sing this as its' actually about sex with black slave girls and mistreatment of slaves in New Orleans.
Its also a metaphor for heroin abuse.
BUT while Mick jagger has said thats what the song is about, does it mean he agrees with it.
Makes me wonder if the X Factor coaches have actually read the lyrics
Yeah, not sure whether she should sing it considering what its about, its still a great song though. Blueberry Hill (Fats Domino) is about underage sex, and Young Girl by Gary Puckett & The Union Gap (1968) is too (maybe) but theyre still classic songs

Apparently the lyric will be changed to "just like a young man should" but she'd still be singing about mistreatment of a young black man Seems like the wrong choice IMO. She seemed uncomfortable with the idea of singing it, perhaps she saw the slavery link (also is a song she wasnt familliar with).
I know what you mean though its just a song, it doesnt even mean Mick Jagger agreed with what the song was about.
Do you remember when "Perfect Day" was released as the Children In Need (?) song in 1997? Great song used on all the BBC trailers, but its actually about the endorsement of heroin if you look closely.

How is Blueberry Hill about underage sex?
I only know the song in passing.
But I agree about Young Girl by Gary Puckett.
When I listened to the lyrics it was, erm, a little controversial.
I'd say it's actually about paedophilia. As the singer is obviously meant to be an adult referring to a child (who tempts him as though she were a woman).
I'm sure I read Blueberry Hill is Fats Domino singing about his relationship with a 13 year old girl (but don't quote me on that). Interestingly, Glenn Miller also took the song to No1 in 1940). Hmmm.

Anyway, as long as it doesn't glorify child-abuse or sex with minors or something (which I doubt it does or he would have been hanged by now, especially in that era...) I'm guessing it's just about a love that isnt meant to be or something?
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...
