Yes, it's the 1998 Ringu Sequel.Would "Spiral" be the "Ringu" sequel ?
Nor Chor = Bangkok Hell. What's "Nor Chor the Prisoner" about ?
All I know about it is it's a very good Prison Movie from 2002.
Nope. Asian Star DVDs have removable french subs, but I haven't seen any english subs yet.Any chance of English subs on "Seven Swords" ?
But since Jean-Pierre Dionnet (Head of Asian Star) was involved in the production of Seven Swords I'm expecting one helluva DVD edition.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Tsk tsk Brad, one would presume you know all this. Warner own the international rights to/are responsible for butchering a few of the 90's Jackie Chan movies (even crap films deserve to be seen as originally intended). Eg First Strike, Mr Nice Guy, Rumble in the Bronx.bradavon wrote:Agreed but why Warner?

Damn these DVD labels by the way. I understand if crappily made DVDs made by crap companies aren't bothered with English subtitles. Fair enough.
But if I make a class DVD with great cover art, DVD menus, picture quality and extras, why wouldn't I put English subtitles as well. I think the French should get that stick out of their asses and don't overact in terms of their patriotism.
Heck, they could make way more money by simply putting English subs on their DVDs. It makes the DVDs appeal to a worldwide audience. Asian films in France might be more popular than in other countries, which guarantees a good selling of the DVDs, but sheesh... what about us. I'm sick of MeiAh DVDs, he he he!
By the way... the same goes for certain other countries. Of course France is currently number one as they have all these cool labels. But if I look back at the German DVD tin box of 'Versus', with all these exclusive extras, I think, Maaaan!!! Legend Films is such a small company. Why not try to make some more money by putting English subs on the damn disc. They have staff who surf the web and saw all the forums where people around the world where whining about the fact that the DVD only featured German subs.
Idiots!

Hey,
Noticed a French UE of "Danny The Dog" (aka Unleashed) here:
http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B ... 33-5210533
There are also forthcoming UE's of Kiss of The Dragon and The Transporter according to a post on Imports Forum.

Yep, I've been monitoring these.
I haven't bought the previous french editions because of the forced french subs (I don't like french subs on english-speaking movies).
There's hope for removable subs this time.
@LD:
Yeah, I feel the same way you do about german dvds. You guys get a lot of good stuff, but only with deutsch subtitles.

Ah ?
I'm sure that Danny the Dog had forced subs, and I just assumed it was the same for other Luc Besson films.
I shall investigate...
EDIT: Ah, you're right. My mistake.
Those movies do have removable subs.
They just don't have english subs.
Well, if they were just a bit less expensive I might consider getting some of them.

I don't think they are in the UK which is my land
Yes I do. I love Bruce Lee flicks. Every rule has an exception!Tom2681 wrote:He's not like us.
He doesn't even like old-school martial arts flicks.
I wonder how it will differ?grim_tales wrote:Noticed a French UE of "Danny The Dog" (aka Unleashed) here
I'm guessing an hour long French interview on disc 2.
I really wonder how KOTD could beat the last French UE. Awesome cover art though:grim_tales wrote:Kiss of The Dragon and The Transporter according to a post on Imports Forum.

Danny the Dog is the only one of the three worthy of a better DVD IMO.
It may do if the extras are all in French.grim_tales wrote:Since DTD is in English anyway, I may get this new French edition. The lack of English subs doesnt bother me

Update:
Ahem... You guys want to hear something funny ?
Do you remember a few weeks ago when I announced the 2006 release of a Lau Kar-Leung boxset that will include Drunken Master 2 ?
Well...
"Combats de Maîtres" is the french title for Drunken Master 2.
"Combats des Maîtres" (notice the very subtle difference) is the french title for a movie called "Challenge of the Masters" which also happens to have been directed by Lau Kar-Leung.
Wild Side Vidéo have confirmed that it will be Challenge of the Masters and not Drunken Master 2 in that boxset.
Put simply: Goodbye, my friends. I'm gonna hang myself.

Update:
On December 2nd, HK Vidéo will release Tsui Hark's Shanghai Blues. I was kinda hoping for a "Peking Opera Blues / Shanghai Blues" Boxset, but no luck.

Picture: 1:85 16/9 digitally remastered from a copy of the original negative.
Sound: Original mono cantonese track + 5.1 french dub.
Subs: French (player-generated and forced).
Extras:
-Tsui Hark interview (~30 mins).
-James Wong documentary (~30 mins).
-Trailers.
-Photo Gallery.
