VAP Blu-Ray - Post 2/2
Disc 2: Visual Commentary Disc (114 min) (DVD-5) (R2)
This is a commentary by Takashi Miike, Shi Sakurai and Katsuhisa Mamase. So, why isn’t it on disc 1? Well, because this actually isn’t an audio commentary but a visual commentary. The camera is in the studio where the commentators are viewing the film. There’s a small movie window in the right corner so you can see what parts of the film they are commenting. The disc runs a bit longer than the film because they keep talking even after the film has ended. Is this visual commentary worth an extra disc? Not really, but it’s a welcome change from the usual film plus voice pattern. However, it doesn’t serve any real purpose as there isn’t anything too interesting going on in the studio.

Hidden Extra: Message from Takashi Miike (1:24)
The first Making Of documentary concentrates on the hero characters. The second part is about the villains. Both docs are basically production diaries, consisting mostly of behind the scenes footage and brief on site interviews. The third Making of is a separate, more promotional featurette. The musical scene featurette also includes a music video which is just movie clips played over that song. Note that this is the Doronbow gang song, not the Arashi song Believe, but that song is featured in the film’s great ending credits sequence.
The packaging deserved a brief description. You must have seen 2 and 3 sleeve digipacks, but this one’s got 6 sleeves. Expect a lot of pictures of characters and robots on those pages. Unfortunately the material used is not very strong. It shouldn't be a problem, but does give the set a slightly less impressive appearance when you open it. A 24 page booklet is also included.
