Spiderman
Spiderman: The Alien Costume (Parts 1-3) - 4/5
Excellent 3 part story in the Spiderman cartoon cannon, pretty dark (considering its the cartoon). I wish Disney would do season sets of this

Crying Out Love, In the Center of the World - 3.5/5
I would really have loved to give this Japanese film a 4/5. At a running time of 2h 17m I thought that this is going to be long. In fact it wasn't, but the last 15 minutes dragged and dragged and dragged.
So overall, great romantic and dramatic film, with a good ending, too, which is just spanned too long.

Agreed. But as every film has a weak thing about it, so does this one. What honestly pissed me off while watching the film are the scenes that are spoken in English. All the English-speaking characters act as if they had just learnt the sounds by hard from a tape and as if they didn't even understand what they were saying. Especially that Swedish guy.BiscLimpkit wrote:JSA - Joint Security Area 5/5
OMG!! You guys seen this? It's like the best movie in the world. Totally awesome...
But apart from that... totally awesome film in every other aspect. The soundtrack is really nice as well.
My rating: 4.5/5.
While Tom says it is not as good as 'OldBoy' and 'SfMV', I think one can't really compare these movies with 'JSA'. Maybe just in one aspect which is that they were all directed by Park.
So where did you see 'Lady Vengeance', Tom? It's not probably in that folder of yours where you showed us that 'AUX'-folder?

I have a friend who works in a movie theater.where did you see 'Lady Vengeance', Tom ?
He invited me for a "test projection" a couple of days ago.
(Lady Vengeance will be released on Nov 16th over here).
Needless to say I didn't regret it. 4,9 / 5
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

It's not gonna be easy.
1.Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (perfect filmmaking)
2.Oldboy (machiavelli would be proud)
3.Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (linear but very powerful)
4.JSA (too thriller-like for my taste, but still very good)
5.Cut (good but too stylish)
?. If you were me (Haven't seen it yet).
@Bisc:

The Curious Dr. Humpp (1967) - 2/5
WTF
Surely one of the most strange mixes of sex, sci-fi and horror ever made. Forget the plot, some bollocks about an evil scientist hunting for the secret of eternal youth by giving kidnapped babes aphrodisiacs, it is just a little too wierd. The score is one of two halves - alternating between horrible lounge music and a very minamilist track (mostly moaning).
Copius amounts of nudity (considering this is 1967) but thats exploitation cinema for you
Whether you like it or not depends on whether you like the genre.

Drunken Angel - 5/5
Wow!!! It has been so long since I saw a film that I think really deserves full marks. Akira Kurosawa shot this film in 1948 and apart from 'Seven Samurai' it is in my opinion his best film.
The film takes place in a Japanese city after World War II. A local mafia gang leader (Toshiro Mifune) comes to see a doctor (Takashi Shimura) after he got shot in his hand. The doctor finds out that he suffers from tubacolose and wants to heal him. However, crook Matsunaga does not believe him, accusing him to be after his money.
The illness developes with him and he decides to see the doctor again. However, the doctor himself is an alcohol addict.
Don't want to give away too much, but it's an awesome film. If you get the chance to see it, by all means do so.
