It wouldn't make sense if he was in it. Danny Glover did a good enough job, I don't see how he was miscast. Predator 2 is best viewed as a standalone film rather than a sequel. Besides, there's only one tiny reference to P1 in it.

Agree with Keung. Predator 2 is a good sequel. They did something different with a new cast rather than just retread the original's jungle antics. Danny Glover is fine and casting someone who wasn't a regular he-man type (but could handle himself) was a wise decision. Predators is OK, but I prefer Predator 2.

Trapped Ashes (2006) - 2/5
The stories were all pretty unsatisfying, a bit strange that Kenji Kawai did the score for this - the first story's music in particular sounds very Ringu-like indeed. Nice to see Ken Russell and Henry Gibson, though.

Predator 2 was butchered by MPAA (fans have been praying for the original cut), but even in its current form it's a very cool film with wonderful early 90's wibe. Glover is a bit of a strange casting indeed, but quite interesting... quite good even, I'd dare to say.

Yeah, I remember Stephen Hopkins talking about the amount of cuts on the audio commentary.
This should have been the original ending.

Grave Encounters (2011) - 1/5
Not even the abandoned asylum can save this one, the characters are obnoxious, it's really boring, and parts of it are unintentionally funny.

The Birds: 6 out of 10.
Very atmospheric and effective in places (especially when the birds fill entire gardens and fields). The acting style took some getting used to. Overall a good film but my god the ending sucks. It's possibly the worst ending to a film I've ever seen. What a let down. The original ending (never shot) looked a lot better.

Why wouldn't Predator 2 make sense if Arnie was in it?Keung wrote:It wouldn't make sense if he was in it.
You believed Arnie could possibly beat the Predator, Danny Glover. WTF!tor, Danny Glover. WTF! Not that Arnie is compulsory. Arnie in LA in Predator 2: Now that would've been awesome.

A "he-man" type, as Mark described him, and his sweaty mates with massive fuck off guns running around the jungle makes sense. Bring that to the city and it's just not right.

Julia's Eyes (2010) - 3.5/5
It started off really well but then became quite predictable and didn't deliver on the interesting things it was hinting at, but it was still a solid film and worth watching.

Political intentions aside, it is a very well-made film, though, isn't it?Markgway wrote:Children of Men (USA-UK, 2006) *½

I thought it was poor. Which is surprising, as Y Tu Mama Tambien is fantastic. My review, bear in mind I wrote this 5 years ago:

Mark you're "obsessed" with lefties. Get over it!

The camerawork in the action sequences was well choreographed (the shaky cam didn't bother me too much because it was meant to represent the movement of Clive Owen's character). I thought the script was woeful and the acting very uneven though.thelostdragon wrote:Political intentions aside, it is a very well-made film, though, isn't it?
But it's relevant. It would be remiss of me to ignore the bleedin' obvious.bradavon wrote:Mark you're "obsessed" with lefties. Get over it!
