I think the Amy Winehouse jokes are just a direct result of her public image.
Look. We all know she was a fuck-up OK? A pantomime clown whose ridiculous antics were prime tabloid fodder. Of course there's irony in 'fans' leaving bottles of alcohol at her shrine - you really couldn't make that shit up - but cruel jokes... crude gags... and pitiful one-liners... etc., are more cheap and tawdry that she ever was.
That's why I said I don't mind funny clever jokes.
Sucks for her family and friends? Maybe, but I guess it must have sucked for them when she was still alive and pissing herself as well...
No maybe about it. It must've been hell to watch the girl screw up her life... but at least they had the hope that one day she might change. Now all they have is an urn full of ashes (or whatever token the Jewish version allows for).
But it did bother me HOW he was killed and how quickly the disrespectfully disposed of the body under the false pretense that it was somehow according to some islamic law or something(!)
Oh yeah, that REALLY bothered me. I mean how dare they disrespect a world renowned terrorist? What were they thinking, those imperialist brutes? One in the back of the head and thrown in a ditch - that's what he deserved. The sea burial was to prevent a shrine.
That wasn't what bothered me. More the fact that the way he was taken out and how quickly they disposed of his body raised more questions than were answered.
However, the public response to that assassination/killing was also a bit over the top with so many people cheering about a guy getting shot in the eye. Understandable ofcourse, but still not something I really enjoy seeing from a mob of people.
I don't enjoy seeing mob mentality either... but as you say understandable. Since none of us here has lost a loved one to a terrorist act we have no right to judge those who have.
We in the west don't know how it is to see our governments corrupted by outside sources, our resources 'stolen' by other countries, and our families and friends being shot and bombed by the weapons that have been sold to criminals by western governments for a quick buck...

...so who are we to judge those people who resist and fight those outside influences in their region...!?

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

You said our warped minds. That's not speaking for yourself. Not everyone shares your peculiar sense of humour.
That wasn't what bothered me. More the fact that the way he was taken out and how quickly they disposed of his body raised more questions than were answered.
You think it wasn't Bin Laden? Maybe they've got the real Bin Laden hidden in an underground bunker in Nebraska where the CIA are conducting experiments on his brain?

You obviously haven't heard of the EU?
...so who are we to judge those people who resist and fight those outside influences in their region...!?
I understand why they resent western powers... that's no excuse for terrorism.

Close, he was actually killed years ago but the US government wanted to continue to use him as an agent of fear ;)

DNA evidence confirmed it was Osama Bin Laden, as far as I can see.

I once saw a documentary about the CIA. An ex-CIA agent was interviewed. He explained how they made assassinations look like they were accidents or deaths by natural causes. That's nothing new, but what he said next was interesting. He said that it felt nice was to read in the papers that the police concluded it was an accident. It made him feel like he knew what's underneath things, what's really going on. But it also made him question everything the papers fed him with.

If he died years ago, where was all the partying or an announcement years ago?
It did seem a bit weird though that for 10 years Osama had been seen as a "slippery bastard who hides in caves" and then he's "found" in quite a secure place in relative comfort. USA declared that Al Zahwari (sp?) was the guy theyre after now (I thought he was the actual person behind 9/11?) Why didnt USA go after him first?
But clearly whether Osama masterminded 9/11 or not, he was a terrorist leader and a very evil man.

Kept secret so that people would continue to believe that the household name terrorist was still doing nasty things.

Her first album was pretty awful (understandable), the follow up excellent but wasn't it heavily influenced by Mark Ronson? She was still a major talent who was sadly more interested in fucking her life up. The next Kurt Cobain. How did she die?
