I was in Helsinki with my buddies last weekend and I remember waking hungover from the last night of drinking just to turn on the TV and see a Spongebob Squarepants cartoon. I hadn't seen one in years but it was surprisingly good and funny.grim_tales wrote:Spongebob Squarepants Movie (2004): 4/5

O' Horten: 3/5
Cosy little whimsical comedy with a delightful score by Kaada, whom I'm a fan of.

Missing In Action 2.5/5 predictable but entertaining Chuck Norris actioner. of course it contains the legendary sequence where Chuck manages to climb out of his heavily guarded Saigon hotel room at night, stroll round the city killing half the vietcong and climb back in to his female associate's bed before he's caught
Missing In Action 2 2/5 ok prequel/sequel takes a while to get going but has a decent last half hour of action.
Braddock:Missing In Action 3 2.5/5 Final Braddock movie has Chuck going back into enemy territory to rescue his thought dead wife and son.carnage ensues.

What film stuff did you just read, marks out of 5
Description of the Alien Prequel 'Prometheus' shown at ComicCon 5/5
"And then the actual footage from the film starts, and its a huge flood of creeptastic imagery that recalls Alien but also a bit of 2001: A Space Odyssey. There are guys in pressure suits exploring an ancient chamber with weird hieroglyphs, and a guy in a spacesuit walking through a sliding door into a clean white chamber. And a guy (who might be Michael Fassbender) pulling a weird jelly-looking thing out of a canister. And as Ridley Scott's voiceover notes that things that may look small in the film will turn out to be important, there is a shot of a drop of blood on a finger. There is Charlize Theron on a table with bandages wrapped around her breasts, as though she's waking from hypersleep.
And then the footage gets faster and more furious, with a guy in a visor looking down at something, a woman in a suit walking into a red entryway, and a globe, and then Scott says, "The cast find an establishment which is not what they expected it to be, it's a civilization but what we find in it is very uncivilized behavior." And then there is insane carnage and people with goop inside their space helmets and someone shooting a flamethrower, and mayhem breaking loose in confined spaces. Meanwhile, Scott's voiceover is saying that there will be biomechanoids and the film will "break new ground." We see a giant pale planet with rings around it.
And then we see Charlize Theron doing pushups naked. Ridley Scott proises that there will be creatures that are "biomechanoid" which will be unique and "break new ground." Says Scott in the video, "There is a DNA of the original Alien, [but] that's as far as it goes, everything else is completely different. It's all about everything." And now the people in the footage are crying and screaming and freaking out and the video is flickering like an interrupted signal. And Scott concludes, 'Of course, what i want to do is scare the living shit out of you.'"
Hope this footage leaks!!!

Sounds good, consider my interest piqued. I've just noticed the screenplay was co-written by Damon Lindelof, he did great work on Lost.

Sixteen Candles **½
John Hughes' debut feature; not a bad way to spend 90 mins.
Anthony Michael Hall steals the show as "The Geek".

Transformers 3 - 3/5
It was the first film I ever watched with the new 3D technique. It's an ok experience, but I don't necessarily need it. It's a nice bonus to have, but not worth paying more for.
As for the film I'd give it a 3/5 simply for all the work they must have put into shooting the film. If only they'd have put some more work into writing the script. Even though the third part is way better than the second, which admittedly is not a big accomplishment, it just can't beat the masterpiece that part 1 was.

The Hurt Locker ***
Suspenseful, tense, and interesting, but crucially I couldn't achieve an emotional connection to the material or characters.

Eagle Eye - 2.5/5
Reminded me of Eden of the East, the game Split/Second, and Enemy of the State. So-so action film, LaBeouf wasn't too annoying in this one.

Been a while, caught it on Channel 5. Obviously it doesn't compare to the first two, but it's still a very entertaining flick.

The first Zulawski film to disappoint me, and why it's 166 minutes long is anyone's guess.

The American 4/5
The movie feels slow and long, and I can totally understand people finding it boring or pretentious, but personally I really liked it. Ofcourse, it does need a brilliant performance from Clooney to keep it interesting, but the man's charisma just burns through the screen in every scene he's in.
The movie is about a killer/weapon-dealer, who goes under the radar in Italy after he had a little spat in Sweden leaving 3 dead bodies. There he goes to a little village working on his job of providing a weapon for a female assassin, while falling in love with a local prostitute...
Apart from Clooney, the real star of the movie is the cinematography from Anthon Corbijn, who does a great job in every shot to make it look as good as possible, with some very nice and interesting compositions. Although I'd say it isn't on the same level as the (usually more vibrant) cinematography of WKW's films...
Anyway, like I said, personally I enjoyed the movie and especially Clooney's performance, but it's certainly not for everyone.
4/5.

Eagle Eye **½
Lightning-paced, but wildly improbable thriller throws out almost enough explosions and hi-tech gimmickry to ensure you won't dwell on the plot holes. Almost.
The Tripper *
Ghastly horror parody (with cheesy gore and deliberately bad acting) is as crappy as the grindhouse movies it so adoringly spoofs. I laughed a couple of times ("but I'm a republican!") ; mostly it's just rancid.
