Well actually, she didn't exactly give me a straight "no" answer - she said "I have a boyfriend, but I'd love to go out with you as mates some time".

Now is that just her way of letting me down gently or is she saying that she would go out with me as mates? She's maybe keeping her options open in case things with her current boyfriend don't work out? I'm not sure I'd go out with her while she is with someone else though - the reason me & my last girlfriend split up is because of another lad coming onto the scene...

I kinda expected Sarah to have a boyfriend as well (and was right). She was nice about it though.
Why wouldn't she be saying she'd go out with you as mates? I'd look at it as better than nowt, but I've never dated a girl properly so what do I know :crybaby:

Yeah, probably best to just tell her you wouldnt feel comfortable with going out with her while she has a boyfriend, cause you'd feel it might be unfair on him or whatever.

A friend of mine also asked me out a couple of times now, but I told her I wouldnt feel comfortable with that since we both have a steady relationship (she with some dude, me with my girl... obviously...)
Even if I wouldnt have had a GF, I probably still wouldnt have gone out with her as it would just be unfair to her BF. Even if absolutely nothing happens, her BF would either be lied to by her, or he'd at the least eb uncomfortable about her going out with another guy.

I personally wouldnt accept it if my girl would go out with another guy, even if they would be just friends or whatever, so I certainly won't do the same to my girlfriend, or to some other guy's girlfriend for that matter.

I feel exactly the same way mate. Its just a shame not everyone is like that...

guys, let me save you much misery in the future, your women will have male mates who they will want to socialise with, telling her she cant or even letting her know it will make you uncomfortable will achieve nothing but piss her off.

if you dont trust her enough to be alone with another bloke for a few hours then theres something majorely wrong with the relationship anyway. And its no use saying 'but its him i dont trust' because we know full well that the bloke involved most likely (not always) is trying to woo her, but thats irrelevant, its whether you trust her to spurn advance that matters.

seriously, if you cant trust your partner with a member of the opposite sex then you need to be asking yourself whether a trust free relationship is really worth it...

This is sometimes true.. but from my experience, most girls will not object to this kind of thing at all, under the logic that they would be just as unhappy if the situation were reversed.

Of couse, what your saying is true alot of the time as well...but regardless of how much trust you have for eachother, it is undeniably painful to have your girlfriend out alone with another guy, or vise versa. (IMO, of course)

Been working so far in my relationship. I have no need to go out with other women to see a movie or whatever, and neither does my girlfriend. If she does have that need, then perhaps something is wrong with the relationship ...
Anyway, I'm not going to be sitting at home and worry about her being out with another guy. If she goes out with another guy, then she's already risking the guy falling in love for her, or risking that she herself would fall in love with him, and if she's willing to take that risk, so be it, but that would mean the end of the relationship.

Took part in a pub quiz last night - did really, really badly though

The questions were very general and quite hard.

I remember Sarah getting heated about a question involving the SA flag - when the answer given to the question "Whar symbol is common to the flags of NZ, Fiji and SA?" was the Union (British) Flag. She got really angry and said "The Union Flag is not on our flag!"

Not on the current modern one, she is quite correct.
BUT (I didnt know this) - having looked in my old book of flags I had as a kid (from 1991), on the pre-1994 (?) SA flag there are orange/white/blue stripes with a US, British and Dutch flag in the exact centre. Its' only a quiz but to base your question on something which is not in common use any more is pretty sneaky IMO.

In my Uni, I remember our pub giving away a trip to Dublin (just one off). Usually it's like a bottle of vodka or a crate of beer or something.

Had a job interview today (for Modern Apprenticeship in HR). Don't think I did too badly but I've found out its a 37 hour/week job (ie full time) which made me go

The job advert didnt mention this.

I know thats standard hours though. My mum says I should see how I get on at first (fair enough) but I'd much prefer to start slower in my first job (if I was to get it).

I found it fairly ok to move into my first full time job, namely because I had worked for them before during the previous three summers.

Just wait til you receive your first pay slip!! Great feeling.

Yeah, dont worry too much about the 37 hours thing. I just had a year of internship work, which was also fulltime, and it was certainly do-able. I certainly don't like it, being in an office every day, week in week out, but I survived.
Wouldnt want it for the rest of my life though... but now that I'm back in school for my final year, I have to say I prefered the internship.

Sucks to have to work for a living though...

Well my apprenticeship is only for about a year-ish (15 months contract), your supposed to be able to gain a qualification (NVQ) at the end.
You're right, I should at least try it
