The Myth - Avant Garde Collector's Edition

Post by grim_tales »

I'd like to get this but I bet none of the extras have English subs ;)
Could be a cool Collector's Item - I'll ask CD-WOW to get it ;)

I was just about to post this but you beat me to it :D :hello1:

Anyway, who cares about extras ? It's just a Jackie Chan movie.
+ It's a Joy Sales DVD so we don't have to worry about video+audio quality.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

That means the AV is good then? ;)

Anyway I cracked and ordered the DVD :D
Apparently it has 2 DVDs of extras (including a Stanley Tong commentary) and DTS (full rate).

Joy Sales = New Police Story HK edition, House of Fury, Bug Me Not, Mob Sister, Twins Effect 2 (lots of good stuff AV-wise).

I think this one looks way cooler. It also has three discs.

I don't really care about that figure. I'm not going to pay 15 Dollars more for a figure I don't need and a box that looks worse than the cheaper edition.

They sound pretty good to me Romero, you get a commentary also as well as the usual behind the scenes stuff etc. Point taken about the subs though, that worries me.
I've got Import Forum-itis :D

It ain't shite. :D
It's no New Police Story, that's for sure, but it's nice enough.

Typical StanleyTong-esque kind of brainless flick.

I'm with Tom on this. The film is a great Chan-flick with lots of fun, but also drama.

I'm so happy it isn't another Rush Hour flick I'm gonna pre-order, probably from Yesasia, as soon as I finish surfing around.

LD have you seen the pictures on Yes Asia? They've been changed, the Avant Garde LE has the same box as the Collector's Ed. AND additional packaging (I think).

Here's the different specs:

1. Avant Garde LE - 5.000 pieces + statue & 1536 kbps DTS (only!)
2. Collector's Edition LE - 5.000 pieces + statue & 768 kbps DTS + DD
3. Avant Garde - 10.000 pieces & 1536 kbps DTS (only!)

Aye basically anything with the "Avant Garde" title will have full range DTS only (no Dolby or anything).

That's what I gather from the retailer information.

Full list of releases here (four of them)

I'll be going for the figure less edition. I was going to order it, although I could be in Hong Kong on the 21st November, so may wait until then. ;)

Yeah, I saw the pictures when I ordered the usual Avant-Garde Edition. So what's the big deal. If you like to have a Terra Cotta warrior gathering dust on your DVD shelf, go for the limited edition.
