Upscaled super-sized grain trash.
A real shame as I love this film!

It looks like arse. Remix aside the USA Fox DVD is decent. I don't "think" it ever got a HK release (which may have had Mono too).

Are you sure there's a Royal Warriors HKL? I'm pretty sure there isn't. I think you're thinking of Police Assassins (I forget it's original name).

I actually think its a great film! So much fun, and the action, cast and Martial Arts are superb.

There is no HKL DVD of Royal Warriors...unless they did one for their magazine?

Annoyingly they used to own the rights to all of the ITLOD series though. If I remember correctly they only released part 4 and whatever part Police Assassins is.

Re: Royal Warriors Blu-Ray Screencaps
It's officially 'Part 2' but was actually the first entry made (1985) and released in Hong Kong.bradavon wrote:whatever part Police Assassins is.
The 'ITLOD' tag was an afterthought that didn't come into play until 'Part 3' (1987).
'Royal Warriors' (1986) is 'Part 1' but was made after 'Yes Madam' aka 'Police Assassins 2'
For some reason HKL dropped the '2' from 'Police Assassins 2' adding another layer of conufsion to those who already knew the movies.
Any of that make sense...?

There's also the German DVD.
Not sure about the English subtitle quality (was desperate to re-do them before its release), but it otherwise appears to tick the boxes (remastered progressive video and mono Cantonese/English/German audio).

Re: Royal Warriors Blu-Ray Screencaps
That would've been confusing for the British public. The same goes for the In The Line of Duty 4 release dropping the 4. What's more confusing is calling Royal Warriors ITLOD2 and Yes Madam ITLOD1.Markgway wrote:For some reason HKL dropped the '2' from 'Police Assassins 2' adding another layer of conufsion to those who already knew the movies.
Regardless I hear Yes Madam is pretty poor with Royal Warriors and In The Line of Duty 4 being good. I've seen In The Line of Duty 4, it's got good action but isn't a keeper.

I recall Police Assassins being better than Royal Warriors, but 'In the Line of Duty' is the best.

Which 'In the Line of Duty'? Part 4?gasteropod wrote:I recall Police Assassins being better than Royal Warriors, but 'In the Line of Duty' is the best.
Lol... we're confusing each other now.
Both Yes Madam and Royal Warriors have good action, but YM has a lot of not-so-funny comedy which drags it down. I recall RW being a lot darker. In fact Michelle Yeoh isn't even top-billed in YM, IIRC. Much of the screen time is given over to John Sham and Mang Hoi. They're all worth watching at least once though. I actually enjoyed Part 3 the best - lots of violence and Michiko Nishiwaki gets her baps out. You'll have to import that one on DVD.

The 'In The Line Of Duty' title begins with Atlas International releasing the first two films in Europe.Markgway wrote:It's officially 'Part 2' but was actually the first entry made (1985) and released in Hong Kong.bradavon wrote:whatever part Police Assassins is.

The series in Hong Kong is known as Wong Ga Si Je (Royal Hong Kong Policewoman), and the Michelle Yeoh/Cynthia Rothrock film is the first in the series. Atlas switched it around with Royal Warriors for some odd reason.
