Saddam on Trial

Post by grim_tales »

Should he be tried for his crimes? Fuckin' A he should!
The different editorals are interesting.
And the US/UK indeed played a part in selling him weapons etc... :? (Not all of them say this).
But HE used them against his own people, did we know he'd do that?
He deserves to be tried for his cruelty  Evil chunt.

No-one cared when he was killing his own people... they only cared about Kuweit being invaded. When Kuweit was back in Kuweiti hands, America quickly left Iraq again, leaving hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's that had helped the resistence against Saddam, to be at Saddam's mercy.

Ofcourse he should be tried, but I have some doubts if he will get a fair trial...

It's a shame that the USA and the UK have made such a fucking mess of their own image with all the scandals and lies etc, that people actually get a bit of sympathy for an evil dictator....

Also, Saddam will stand trial for his crimes, but I doubt Bush nor Blair will ever have to pay for what they've done....
In my mind, Bush's regime is as big a danger to world peace as Bin Laden.

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

I think the outcome must be decided by the Iraqi voters. Only they can bring closure to this monster.

Don't they have the final say? I'm sure most of them want the guy dead.

let the mob make judgements on peoples lives?? I guess in many cases it wouldnt be any worse than letting polititians do it but it hardly makes it any fairer or sensible.

the best thing about the US is that they are becoming a hate figure of such proportans that it is actually drawing the rest of the world together.

this whole idea of prosecuting our leaders for war crimes is silly to say the least. We cant create a system, then when people find ways to work within the system and still piss us off, ignore our own rules and get them for it. If we dont like the way Bush and blair got away with this then we need to change the systems that allowed it to happen. nothing else is even vaguely constructive.

...so, er, what's your answer Mordib?

What would you do (apart from hate America that is)?

What should Saddam's sentence be? Or do you think he should not be tried?

i quite like america actually, its achieving what wars and diplomacy never could :P

Sadam is going through the court process, its hardly perfect but i prefer it to the idea of letting the people vote.
