I'm sure they could find some other way to cut the deficit. The ludicrously high foreign aid budget for a start.
The most annoying thing is their answer every time to justify the cuts and reversals is to merely blame labour, and say things were worse than they thought. Every single time.
It is repetitive...... but also entirely true. I think Labour would do well to keep quiet about finance for the next 4 years or so... at least until they sweep out the rest of the Blair/Brown mob.

I don't know how it all went down in th UK, but here in Holland, we now have the political parties in command who are complaining about the state of the economy and are making huge cuts for lower incomes and all that......

... yet they were the ones who mostly caused the problems we're in. Ow, housing-prices are out of control? It was the doing of the VVD and CDA with their fucked up mortgageplans. Ow, quality of healthcare is going down while prices continue to go through the roof? Guess who demanded a privatized healthcare while we had one of the very best systems in the world!? Ow, education is getting more expensive and less accessable!? Which parties decided we just needed to invest in a whole bunch of worthless expensive 'managers' who fucked up the complete schoolsystem...!?

And we can go on and on. It was mostly the doing of VVD and CDA, as those have been the parties who ruled the majority of the time the last 30 years.

However, people like Geert Wilders have mindfucked the population so much the last couple of years, that the majority thinks that 'the left' have been 'too soft' and have done fuck all and just want to throw money away etc etc... and throw that in with ofcourse the usual right-wing anti-islam and anti-immigrant crap, and people will once again just vote right-wing. Much better to be robbed blind by your own incompetent right-wing white politicians than it is to be robbed by some criminal illegals or be blown up by some muslim terrorist, right!?

That's the problem with democracy. If you can brainfuck the majority into a bunch of retarded xenophobic monkey bastards (and for some that really isn't much of an effort), you can still win elections, even if you're the ones responsible for all the fucked up mess we're into today...

Might as well try. Here's some random facts about mua:

*I drink way too much (today is the first "dry" day since December ~20)
*Got engaged on Christmas
*Got drunk on Christmas
*I download way too much DVDs (I'm a dirty pirate, ho ho ho)
*I got way too many hobbies, and no time for any of them
*I'm finishing my bachelor's degree in English philology this, yet I still feel insecure about my English language skills when I have a conversation with native English speakers.
*Am a video-game console maniac.

Hah, me too. I'm studying in English in uni, but a few months ago was the first time ever I spoke English to my friend's father who is an Englishman... despite the fact I've known him for more than 10 years, and English is the only common language we speak...

Tell as something else we don't know. Where are you from?

I always got extremely good grades in English in school, and even corrected a couple of teachers on several occasions, but obviously you normally don't speak english every day, so yeah, it's natural that it's a bit rusty when you suddenly have to speak english with someone...

Lithuania. It's a small country in eastern Europe. Those of you who live in the UK or Ireland should probably know where it is, since it's kind of a fad now here to emigrate from Lithuania to UK or Ireland in search of a better life.

Same here. Funny fact: I learnt 90% of the English not from school lessons, but from watching Cartoon Network (good old days when they used to air Batman and Superman) and playing Fallout 2. In the course of four years I didn't learn shit from my university. They taught us more about literature and English language theory but kind of forgot to teach us advanced grammar. :?

Another thing about me: when I write in English I sometimes get ahead of myself and might accidentally skip a word or two in a sentence, like in the last post.

Yeah, I got most of my english from Sky Channel and Super Channel as well. Although it has always come easy to me, unlike German and French, which make no sense whatsoever.

In school one of my teachers even thought I was cheating on my tests cause I was always finished first and scoring extremely high marks, until another teacher explained to him that I did the same in his class the year before... :D

I believe it' shitbreak, as in "shit break".

What did you do before, just grunt at him? :D.

I'm surprised, your written English is 99% of the time exceptional and better than many native English writers. Which usually leads to fluency (or near) in the spoken form.

Most Brits (or at least English anyway) tend to lump all/assume all Eastern Europeans in The UK are Polish. I don't know whether to laugh or cry on that.

The same goes for all Far East Asian people being assumed to be Japanese or Chinese. It's pot luck whether people say someone from South Asia is Indian or Pakistani, of course they maybe from neither.

82.4% of my English comes from video games, movies, and the internet.

I know where Lithuania is. I was drinking with two Lithuanian girls a few weeks ago.

Oh, don't worry. My reading skips a few words here and there. I won't even notice your missing words (obviously, duh) :D

Well, I'm fluent in spoken English, too. I have to be, all my studies are in English. But I do have my accent, and above all, my fear of an Englishman's accent :D

Using English with other non-native speakers is much more pleasant, because you all suck equally :D

That's typical Finnish communication, don't you know that???

Actually, maybe speaking to non-english people in english might be even suckier, cause you kinda have to 'dumb' it up...

When I'm in Hong Kong, I communicate with the locals there in English. But because there english in many cases isn't all that great, you quickly learn to keep your own english very 'basic'. Which also leads them to think that your english might be sucky as well.

fact is, whenever I speak english over there the way it's meant to be spoken, they just glaze at me, then look at my girlfriend for the chinese translation. :D

Now, when I keep it very very basic, that can follow what I say, then look at my girlfriend and tell them my english sucks! :D :D :D

Now, where I come in REAL trouble, is when I'm in Hong Kong, and I meet friends who live there but speak dutch, like my old neighbour. Then it just becomes one fucking heap of horrible cantonese mixed with dutch and english, cause you're so used to speaking with everyone in english, you start doing it to those that can actually understand dutch.

That's not all, I often kinda 'stick' in canto-english when I just return. You get so used to little words/phrases like 'mgoi' and 'msai' and 'do jeh' and 'hoa' (that last one could cause problems when you're talking to some english chick) etc, etc, that it slips out automatically at times...

You should come to Scotland. You already speak better English than half our population.

That's only because most Brits can't tell the accents apart. If you don't recognise the accent you won't know unless someone tells you. I'm sure much of Eastern Europe can't tell Scots and Irish apart.
