The Tourist: It was all right, nothing deep but was enjoyable enough and had nice locations and Angelina Jolie was looking good.

Knight & Day 2/5 not a bad film, just a very routine by the numbers star vehicle for Cruise & Diaz. moves along at a fair clip but is entirely predictable and offers no surprises at all.

The Snowman: 5/5
One of the best animated shorts ever made. Howard Blake's score compliments the animation so well, and I defy anyone not to get misty eyed at the end
So touching

I always liked Robbie the Reindeer...
The Snowman is great as well. Oh, and I love that Lenny Henry-Rowan Atikinson Xmas special, where 'Bertie' finds a lamp and gets a magic genie (Henry)...

Father Christmas
How's this for irony - the only way to get the original version of The Snowman was a R1 double feature which butchers the original version of Father Christmas

Alien: Woah, I don't remember the lighting being so incredible when I saw it on TV many years ago, this has a visual quality on a par with Blade Runner, superb Blu-ray transfer.

VERTIGE
Uninspired five innocents go on a terror trip yarn is sort of like 'Cliffhanger' meets 'The Hills Have Eyes'.
Par for the course for modern horror: Grisly violence and unappealing characters.
If 'Wrong Turn 7' is sold out (and you dig subtitles) give this a try.

Aliens: I decided to watch the Theatrical version and couldn't believe it when the scene with the automatic guns mowing down loads of aliens wasn't there. Excellent remaster that definitely doesn't look like it's from '86! Although I'm sure the turquoise tint will bother purists because I think that's new.

I'm surprised to hear that too. I saw the Extended Cut recently and assumed it was part of the Theatrical Cut (which I saw years ago). I didn't like the extra Newt scenes in the Extended Cut though, total waste of time.gasteropod wrote:Aliens: I decided to watch the Theatrical version and couldn't believe it when the scene with the automatic guns mowing down loads of aliens wasn't there.
My Alien Quadrilogy box set, Aliens Extended Cut isn't purple.gasteropod wrote:Excellent remaster that definitely doesn't look like it's from '86! Although I'm sure the turquoise tint will bother purists because I think that's new.

Turquoise is blue-green, similar to Aqua.
