Its' been a while since I saw any version of the Narnia stories (I have read some of the books and do have the classic BBC version of The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe somewhere) but I'm not sure what Pullman is talking about
CS Lewis was an atheist who became Christian later in life (I think) which is why the books and TV versions are so full of symbolism:
The kids are often called "Sons of Adam" and "Daughters of Eve" etc, by a lot of characters.
Aslan is clearly like the Narnia people's "God", the instance of him being bound on the stone table by the White Witch and then coming back to life again, symbolises Christ's crucifiction and then resurrection.
Edmund is the Man of Sin and the White Witch is the Devil
.. etc.
What do you think?
