Marked for Death (USA, 1990) – 3.5/5
Solid Seagal film following exceptional cinematic logic: every time something is mentioned (“this neighborhood is safe”) the opposite happens within 30-90 seconds (machine gun men attack and kill a dozen people). Some classic dialogue (“he looks functional to me”), creepy villain, and a nicely diverse setting (Chicago – Jamaica). The film could do with less Voodoo bullshit, however.

Out for Justice (USA, 1991) – 3.5/5
Another enjoyable film from Seagal’s golden age with all the elements – violence, ponytail, dialogue – except for one: diversity. It’s a Brooklyn film decidedly, but the storyline doesn’t really go anywhere. Brooklyn streets, Seagal, broken jaws, repeat 10 times in 90 minutes and add ending credits.

I think that's one of OFJ's strengths; it's very specific (and insular) sense of community. You feel like you're being let in on a world where you don't (and probably wouldn't want to) belong.

It didn't work for me but I can see it as a strength also. And now that I think about it, I've also been complaining about the over-diversity in action films (although I was talking mainly about concepts). I miss those One-Armed Boxer and Flying Guillotine type of films where they would take one idea and really explore it to the bone, with memorable results. Too many action movies are so packed that they don't have any kind identity and you won't remember anything about them after a few days.

Technically you're 50% correct. Although I don't remember much comedy.

Out for Justice is Seagel's best but Under Siege his most fun.

I meant that Julia Roberts as an attractive character was a joke...

I know. Although I think she is attractive, she's no stunner but no minger either.

She's no minger to be fair... but she wouldn't be in my top hundred either.

Somebody Up There Likes Me. 4/5

Old B/W Paul Newman flick about an Italian no-good asshole who constantly gets into trouble, until he discovers a not so hidden talent for knocking guys out and becomes a boxer.

We see Steve McQueen for a couple of nano-seconds in a small bitpart in the beginning of the movie, and overall it's a pretty nice movie, although it's kinda hard to root for Paul Newman's character Rocky Graziano, cause he's a numbskull bully.

[Rec]: It was all right, but overrated. I didn't find the acting very convincing but maybe that's just what Spanish people are like lol, I don't know.

:D. I'm sure he's proof reading it through now, along with Father Christmas (which is nowhere near as good).

Shrek 3.5/5

One of Dreamwork's first CG animated features and still their best imo with a set of likeable characters plucked from fairytales and an excellent voice cast.

Shrek 2 3/5

Very good sequel keeps up the standard well though it's not as good as the first one.introduces Puss'boots to the series and he's an excellent addition.

Shrek The Third 2/5

The series starts to show wear and tear with this rather mediocre effort, certainly not the disaster i'd heard about,it's ok,just very underwhelming.

Shrek Forever After 3/5

Inventive final? film in the series is a little darker than the others but all the better for it.There's probably no legs left in this franchise but it made megabucks so i'd be surprised if part 5 doesn't appear eventually.

Shrek 4 was surprisingly good (better than 3) - but No. 4 should be the end IMO.

there's a Puss'nboots movie out next year.i think for the time being Shrek will be restricted to tv specials (Shrek The Halls, this year's Scared Shrekless for example) but give it a few years and there'll be another one.
