Blue Underground BD of Inferno due to be released March 29th: http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/ ... u-ray/5879

It will be interesting to see how the transfer compares to the Arrow, knowing BU's track record for plenty of grain & detail. I'll probably double-dip, although I must say the Arrow is 'good enough' for me in the meantime.

Comparison between the Anchor Bay and Arrow DVDs:

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film3/dvd_revi ... ep_red.htm

Should give an indication of how the BD will look.

Anyone else think that the ABE transfer looks better?

Deep Red has now been delayed to Dec 20th/Jan 3rd (they've given both dates, confusingly).

Has anything from Arrow ever come out on time?

It's now confirmed as Jan 3rd. They're blaming the weather holding everything up, which is plausible to be fair.

Arrow delayed Deep Red and Battle Royale before the snowy weather.

Smells like bullshit.

The Japanese BD of Suspiria has been compared with the UK: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDReview ... review.htm

Looks basically the same to me, you can see a little less of the contrast-boosting in a couple of shots but there doesn't seem to be any cause for celebration with this one, plus the fact it's interlaced.

I'd wait and see what BU come up with because the Arrow transfer is disappointing.

PHENOMENA in March from Arrow:

http://homecinema.thedigitalfix.co.uk/c ... march.html

I really hate that they're forcing the Italian cut on viewers so that no matter what you're gonna get dubbed Italian on whichever version you choose. At least with Deep Red they offered both cuts of the movie.

Here are some comparison shots of the Arrow and the Blue Underground Blu-rays, which do you prefer? It's hard to say for me, I prefer the colours on the Arrow, but the BU wins for grain. Also, the BU only has hard of hearing subs for the Italian track, but the Arrow has normal subs.

Hmm... my preference varies between caps.

The first cap looks better on the Arrow (because of the more accurate colours and despite the DNR), whilst the fourth cap looks better on the Blue Underground (in all regards, not just the grain).

I'd hate to have to choose (would want to see more caps before coming to a final decision).

Bit soft in places even with the added grain... but I'd still probably go with the Blue Underground.

The one thing I've learnt recently is that the more I think I know about good quality transfers the less I actually know. And I'm not even sure that I know that! :?
